Generally speaking, I myself write background and adventure and setting and character rather than rules mechanics, because I'm better at it. And the Exalted line editor knows that, too. ;)
It's quite strenuous. I have to keep up to date with the other published background stuff so as not to contradict already-established canon. I also have to be ready to take editing and correction. And put up with fan comment afterwards. "Book X is really one of the weakest of the line..."
But it _is_ very cool to see someone using something in their campaign/game that I wrote.
