I have this insane theory that the Steve that died was a sleeper agent for the Skrulls, who never knew he was a Skrull, which raise the point of just when was the real Steve taken?
Bendis has pretty much promised that that isn't the case (he's said that he wasn't going to do "take the pussy way out of Civil War by making Iron Man or Cap a skrull" and another time pointed out that if Steve had been a skrull, he would have gone all green and skrully upon dying). On the other hand, Ed Brubaker has been known to tell bald-faced lies to interviewers, and Bendis hangs out with him, so...
I'm curious as to whether the Mockingbird (or, as I like to call her, "MockingSkrull") who's shown up in the Savage Land is actually Bobbi (with the Bobbi who returned to earth and died being a Skrull plant), or a skrull pretending to be Bobbi (which is what I suspect all of the other Secret Wars-era Avengers who've popped up in the savage Land are). I kind of like the idea that she's a skrull who's "gone native" in the course of being trained to pretend to be Mockingbird and has fallen in love with Clint. She will betray the skrull empire for Clint, and their love will be green and shapeshifty, especially once Clint realizes that she can also look like the Black Widow during sex if she wants to.
