I always thought the point of a to-do list was to be impossible. It's all that stuff you would do, but, and writing it down keeps you from dwelling on it without tossing it out of mind completely. And then eventually you look at it and think, Hey, I did some of that stuff! Go me! (It's possible that I misuse to-do lists.)
