Korean Music is Awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] perseid, if you are ALIVE, I'd just like to say I'm currently feeling very CONFUSED. SuJu have been producing BETTER music than DBSK (I mean, Sorry Sorry is far superior to Survivor, and OMFG! It's You's MV and music is just better than, well, it is better than Bolero... at least it is more listenable). My world is ENDING.

That's all.

Oh, wait, one other thing - I would like to book in a day to see you, preferably sometime after I have had a chance to watch the season finale of SPN, and hopefully after this weekend of Doom. Perhaps next weekend or the weekend after? (22nd or the 29th of May?).

Korean music - YAY!

I am listening to Super Junior's new single - Sorry Sorry none-stop. Like all of their previous main singles, Sorry Sorry is catchy and really upbeat. I can't believe how much I have missed them. Here’s hoping that they will make a successful comeback. In other Korean boy-band news; the massive amount of DBSK related goodness being produced by the Japanese music scene makes my little fangirl heart full of squee.

I just woke up from a four hour nap, had some delicious cheese and sundried tomatoes on crackers, and feel awesome! Spent the long weekend cleaning; there was vacuuming, dusting and moving of furniture. I spent 8 hours shifting dressers, cabinets and wardrobes my friends, old wooden wardrobes that had to be unpacked completely to be moved and then repacked once it is pushed, pulled and lifted to its new location, which was on the other side of the house. The upside; I now have much more space in my room, new furniture and I’m almost 100% sure that I have gotten rid of my cockroach problem. Also had dinner with the boyfriend’s parents in a swanky restaurant, gamed, and finally spent some much needed time on my computer watching youtube clips of DBSK. In conclusion, I have had a highly productive and awesome weekend.

And now I go off to watch Children of Men with dad.

ETA: And the following is why fangirls think members of Korean pop bands are GHEI for each other! I mean they kiss, hug and stuff in front national television. Oh, SuJu, never change!

ETA 2: Skinship basically sounds like what it says; physical contact between individuals. It is often encouraged in Asian countries between people of same sex; it is sign of deeper friendship and affection. Except you know, I swear the Korean boy bands really push it to the limits, on the one hand I think it is because they are that comfortable with each other, on the other hand I think they are doing it for the fanservice, either way it often generates some big reactions.

Korean pop bands - DBSK, Super Junior

So, I have been informed that I've been rather, um, Supernatural focused, so, to show that I still LOVE my Korean boy bands with an obsessive dedication, I'll dedicate this post to DBSK and the SuJu boys.

About 2 weeks ago DBSK (Dong Bang Shin Gi (동방신기 - Rising Gods of the East), a 5 member acapella/boyband, returned to Korea to star on NUMEROUS variety shows, many a fangirl expired at the thought, for all of us has missed the boys on Korean variety shows. There is a certain level of crack that the boys never manage to reach on Japanese variety shows. There are many reasons as to why I adore them enough that I was contemplating naming my first born after certain members (shut up [livejournal.com profile] perseid, I have passed that stage, kind of) I love them; for one they can actually sing. In fact I got addicted to their songs well before I ever saw them perform, and their performance of Rising Sun pretty much blew me away, and there was just no looking back. Despite their success they are still so damn humble, and considering their average age is 21 I think it is just an amazing thing. I LOVE them to bits because they are honestly nice people yet still manages to be such big dorks!

For the MOST AWESOME OF PIMP POST on DBSK. There are PICTURE, VIDEOS, and SO MUCH MORE!!

Tohoshinki (their name in Japan) on HEY!HEY!HEY! there is Talking and an AWESOME performance of Purple Line, their #1 Oricon chart single.

Purple Line Rehearsal because they ARE DORKS, and decide to do a few moves of Tell Me song done by a GIRL GROUP! I LOVE them LOADS.

Or just go HERE, LOTS of current DBSK stuff.

Super Junior, the 13 (possibly 14, because of the violinist, don't ask) member boyband, just had their FIRST official concert, and OMFG! I am stupidly HAPPY for them. Considering the amount of crap they had to deal with to have this concert, this is EPIC! First, it was Heechul being involved in a car accident that left him with a metallic nail that spans the length of his WHOLE thigh, then it was the car accident in April 2007 involving 4 of their members that left 2 of them heavily injured; Leeteuk had 170 stitches, and KyuHyun suffered from a fractured hip, and pneumothorax from fractured ribs. He has only really begun to recover later/early this year, and everytime I see him performing I get stupidly TEARY.

For a cool PIMP POST on SUJU go HERE! This is more sharing of LOOT; profiles, pictures and music!!!

And ANOTHER SUJU PIMP POST!!! MUCH Youtube LINKS! There are so MUCH JEWELS here!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!

Or just go HERE, LOTS of current SuJu stuff.

The truth is that my LOVE for them CANNOT be TEXTUALLY RENDERED! Also, consider this an EDUCATIVE post on the study of ANOTHER CULTURE, because d00ds, seriously, there are other forms of media-entertainment beside English. OK, so the eye candy goodness help quite a bit, but sometime I just want my pretty hairless boys. And if they are talented? All the better for it!

Siwon = Sexy? WTF?!

Having hormonal mood swings, DBSK makes me stupidly happy, almost up-to-date with all TV shows I'm following. Anyways, to the point of this post - I present you Siwon of Super Junior.

Siwon is hot? WHAT?

[livejournal.com profile] perseid, can you believe it? It is Siwon, I mean Siwon of the sweet and cuddle kind; when I first saw this my eyes bugged out and I went slightly OMFG!!!

SuJu and DBSK = LOVES!!

EEEEEEEEEEE! EEEE! EEEEEEEEE! EEEEEEEE! E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!E!

Photos from the Super Junior and Dong Bong Shin Ki (DBSK) Christams taping of EHB. I cannot wait for this episode; I may possibly explode from the GLEE and SQUEE! 11 hours of footage to be condensed down to 2 hours. OMFG! I hope they do an additional episode, at this point I'm perfectly happy watching them staring at paint dry.

Also, it has been officially 4 years since DBSK made their debut, and the fans send MASSIVE amount of food; the whole thing is damn impressive. There is cake, alcohol, fruits, pork and other savoury goods, and PIZZA! There are days that I love being a fan.

KM 2007 Golden Disk Award

[livejournal.com profile] perseid, I'm not sure if you have seen this yet but below is a clip of Epik High's performance of Fan at this year's KM 2007 Golden Disk Award. I think it is their best live performance of the song, ever. They used the gayageum for the song, and it just add layers to it.

Also, I know you don't have much of an interest in SuJu outside of their appearances on variety shows, but check out their performaces at the KM 2007 Golden Disk Award. K.R.Y. plus Kangin, Sungmin and Siwon did a Jazz rendition of Marry You (this is awesome in ways that make use of their individual strong points). They also performed Don't Don (insane as usual, I tend to forget just how good they really are during their fast songs). However, it is A Man In Love that gets to me. It has one of the most bizarre dance choreography that's really hard to describe, and I can't tell you why I like it so much. The following clip has all 3 performances.

naanima: ([SUJU] Hugs!)
The DBSK members welcome JunSu, who has just arrived in Paris from Brazil. There is hugging, there is face squishing, and there is harmonising of welcome, no I'm serious, they honestly harmonised their welcome. JunSu is completely off his face, and JunSu and Yuuchun sings O Champ Elysees, argues over how to pronounce Bonjour, and yodels. Yes, yodels. I swear the boy is high.

And then I watch clips of this year's MKMF - all 13 of members of Super Junior arrives via 2 vans. All 13 of them, this surprised me, I don't remember the last time when all 13 of them were together.

CSJH The Grace pwns ALL other girl bands. Gods, they are hot. They are the ones in pink and black, not the bubble-gummy group in the middle. If nothing else the clip shows the variety of girl groups in Korea.

Also, just in case you have forgotten - Gackt at the MKMF performs Dispair and Redemption, proves that while on stage, he is still the God of the Aisan music industry. I love the microphone he uses during Redemption. Some of the Korean artists watch on with bemusement and WTF, while the CSJH girls and Heechul obviously love it. Though the former enjoyed the music, while the latter may possibly become the biggest Gackt stalker in history.

Korean-pop is AWESOME!

So, liking one Korean band is like opening the doorway to the Korean entertainment/music industry (or at the very least, the SM family). I know of ShinHwa, Rain, BoA and so forth, I have even heard some of their music in the past, but omfg, since SuJu and DBSK, I now know who the hell Jujin, Tony, Sunday, and many others are. X-man is no longer just a Marvel character anymore, oh no, it is my main fount of entertainment.

On X-man celebrities make fools out of each other and themselves, it is about having a laugh and seeing just how competitive famous individuals are. It is where Yoon Eun-hye flirts with Kim Joong Kook, where Kim Heechul rules at the “Of Course” game, and where celebrities are dorks. I love X-man. Also, Chae Yeon and Lee Hyori are hot, the fact that both singers are not in their early 20’s makes me really happy – older women are hot.

I love the fact that ShinHwa have been together for 9 years now; their music has evolved so much. Despite the fact that they are with different companies now they are still supportive of each other; writing for one another's solo albums, appearing at their concerts, and still working on a ShinHwa album to be released this year. I have for to admit some of their later music is awesome (solo or otherwise). Minwoo’s (M’S) Stomp is just wow. I love that Andy still does his Heart dance; it is as spastic as ever (I can’t stop laughing every time I see it). Eric and Hyesung’s relationship break my brain – I mean what?! And Dongwan is hilarious and so amazingly kind.

Also, Tony An, formerly of H.O.T. is awesome, I think it is the way he interacts with his employees, despite the fact that he is a CEO now he’s such a dork with everyone. The whole break up of H.O.T. hurts my fangirl heart so very much. Also, KangTa and Tony doing the Candy dance break my brain on many levels. BTW: Candy is a fecking infectious song; I can’t get it out of my mind!

I really, really, really LOVE the Korea K-pop scene – I may possibly opened a youtube account to keep track of my favourite K-pop related vids.

DBSK & Kim HeeChul

naanima: ([DBSK] OH!)
I have been going through a patch of insomnia, so rather than focus on work I have been watching DBSK and SUJU (more like Kim HeeChul clips) interviews on youtube. It has been glorious.

The differences in the DBSK boys since they debuted back in 2004 to now are truly stunning. They were such dorks back then, compared to now they are much more, um, actually they are still dorks, but less gleeful and obviously more comfortable with interviews and themselves, dorks. Their image has come a long way (omg, they suffered a series of truly awful hair-styles); visually they are much more sleek. Their vocals has improved, which I think is partly due to their Asian tour. Having to sing so often and to a live audience must had been an awesome learning experience. Their music is much more experimental nowadays, though I wish they would allow Changmin and JunSu to really push their vocals, I’m fascinated with just how far the two of them can go. Also, the fact that they are considered to be elders in the music industry when the oldest of them is only 22 this year makes me laugh.

My favourite DBSK picture; Japanese version.

Nowadays YunHo is very smooth, and I’m really glad they stopped pushing for the whole bad boy image and allowed him to be more mature. However, his current thinness is kind of, um, concerning, I mean, his face was so ROUND only 3 years ago (wants to PINCH it, and those teeth!). The problem is that YunHo's height and body structure makes the loss of weight very obvious. Yoochun on the other hand has gained weight - this I approve, looking like a twig that could be snapped in half did nothing for him; I’m also very glad that his voice has become much more smooth. Changmin, that boy, have truly grown, he is taller than YunHo now (I think he's 1.85 or 1.86m), and he’s so much more confident and articulate than he use to be, it is extremely obvious in interviews and even when he’s on stage performing (and let’s NOT forget the SPECIAL videos he watch – AHAHAHAHA).

JunSu is has dropped the ‘cute’ image and is much more mature nowadays, it is suddenly him (or Changmin) who pick up the slack in interviews when YunHo is obviously feeling under the weather; I like his short hair-cut so much more. Finally, JaeJoong, is it me or has he become less camera shy and much more blunt than he use be? I mean he was pretty blunt back then, but now it is like he’ll go out of his way to be as blunt as possible. Actually, present JaeJoong sort of reminds me of a less insane HeeChul, in many ways that is a scary thought. The world can only really house one HeeChul at any given time; two would possibly make the world implode on itself.

This brings me to Kim HeeChul who is like- like- you know what? HeeChul is indescribable. He’s insanely pretty (yes, more pretty than most of the female celebrities), and when you see him you kind of automatically assume he’s going to be soft-spoken and nice. HeeChul is neither soft spoken nor nice - when I first saw him in one of SuJu’s MVs I wasn’t really impressed, pretty boys tend to bore me, then I saw him on a variety show. It was an experience, Kim HeeChul is truly amazing; he’s hilarious, extremely sharp, and is very blunt. Though what I said does little justice for just how glorious he truly is; he’s the type of guy you would love to be your friend, but would never want to date because he’d drive you to murder.

The Great Kim HeeChul, because despite the pretty and snark he can be a bit of a retard.

OK, now I shut up about Korean bands. Oh wait, one more thing - I LOVE "O Jung Ban Hap". My love for this song is pure GLEE.
