Torchwood: COE more thoughts.

OK, have thought about this and I would like to explain my displeasure about Torchwood: COE. The thing is it isn't even what 90% of fandom is mad about. Go figure.

The good, the bad and the fail in dot points )

In conclusion, Torchwood: COE is a pretty well put together piece of sci-fi barring a few minor hiccups in regards to plot. However, I obviously was watching a different show from what RTD and other writers were trying to sell. So well I can objectively say it is a piece of good work, it isn’t my type of work, and it is completely different from why I was watching Torchwood in the first place.

Fuck you Russell T. Davies. Fuck you SO HARD.

In addition, I don't think I want to watch Doctor Who anymore. Just fuck you.

Torchwood (AKA Touch Wood) and I.

Torchwood and I don't exactly have the best of relationships. I love the show in concept but while watching it I mostly just want to murder baby seals. Having said that though, I do admit that at least 15% of the show is like finding gold, which makes the whole bloody experience that much more irritating because obviously it can be awesome but FAILS so often.

Despite my complicated feelings toward the show (RAGING!HATEOMFG!SO!AWESOME!) the promo pics for the new season/episode is hot like burning. The one below is my favourite. It pretty much says everything it needs to say about the members of Torchwood and their relationship with one and another.

So, the final episode of season 2 of Torchwood played to all of its strength; the characters, the relationships, and the undeniable ugliness of humanity and its strength.

Still crying because writing the above required me to re-watch the episode, [livejournal.com profile] blondeleo, hope that was at least semi-coherent, typing while crying is just a bit difficult. Now I go in search of beer and chocolate.

Coherent thought later when I don’t feel so damn fragile and weepy.

OK, just saw episode 12 of Torchwood, and YES! That’s what I’m talking about! Torchwood’s strength has always been its team-focused episodes, and OMFG! They deliver spectacularly in this episode.

Bestest episode of the season!

Caught up with Torchwood (eps 8 to 11), the thing with Torchwood is that I really want to like the series, yet it continuously underperforms. I remember the happy glee of the few two episodes of season 2 but since then I have been getting more and more bored with the series. However, a few happy thoughts; I am very pleased with the characterisation of this season; I can wax poetics about all of them rather than hating them with a passion, and there is a sense of coherent team, which was greatly lacking season 1. Yet I find myself loosing lots of interest in the last 4 to 5 episodes (Owen made it worthwhile, but everything else just felt rather flat), and I’m rather annoyed because I really want to love this series and it was doing such a brilliant job at the beginning of the season.

Oh well, 2 more episodes, maybe it’ll get more interesting, after all the last 5 mins of season 1 saved the show for me. And if nothing else there is Doctor Who, which hopefully will be coming back very soon, because that is one show that have not disappointed me yet.

Oh, what a the hell, a small section - “and there's a bit of underlying erotic subtext that goes on between them as well. Which is nice!”

EEEEEE!

Torchwood - new s2 trailer + RL

I am so excited about season 2 of Torchwood.

NEW trailer for series 2, and OMFG! EEEEEE! EEEEE! EEEE! They are going to get this right.

Today is going to be my first day at work and I'm actually fine with it. The two weeks of break I have had was just what I needed to relax and enjoy life once more. There was too much eating, drinking and not enough exercise, so pretty much heaven. One memorable moment being sometime in the wee hours of the morning and me throwing up a day's worth of content into the toilet. Ah, joy.

Also saw I am Legend yesterday. Will Smith is all sorts of awesome in the film, and I'm reminded why these sort of films are always so much more enjoyable in the first half. It is the suspense and the sense of realism, which the second half always let down. But it definitely deserves to be seen on the big screen.

Torchwood s2 news + Amazon shopping

Torchwood s2 - OMFG!YES!. If they can pull this off I will swear my undying love for Chris Chibnall. Season 1 of Torchwood, for me, was a series of wasted potential, choppy writing, and badly executed directing. But by the GODS, the second season sounds like what I want from this series. Torchwood PLEASE do not fail me.

Also, I kind of love Amazon for the sheer simplicity and their massive catalogue; I bought 4 DVD boxsets and a book that will be posted to me sometime in mid-Jan. Depending on the money situation I'm going to be making another order at the end of March for 3 books and 6 seasons worth of a television show.

Torchwood - A Retrospective View

It is early, had 4 hours of sleep, will be going to work in 30 minutes.

I really don't like TORCHWOOD much. I like what it does with its characters, I love that it expanded the Doctor Who universe, and the last 5 minutes of series 1 made my month. But beyond that, I thought the series was rather meh - it was riddled with some pretty bad writing, cinematography that was rather ugly and clumsy, and most of the time I couldn't decide whether the writers purposely made most of the cast irritating (which would be awesome), or whether it was a result of bad writing.

In addition, I think I'm the only person not to have been wowed by the episode - Captain Jack Harkness. I liked it fine enough; it just wasn’t the definitive moment of the series for me (it wasn’t even a highlight). The last 5 minutes of series 1 saved the series for me, before that point I was perfectly happy to hate EVERY single character on that show, and was ready to wash my hands of it. Then the awesome ending happened, and suddenly I was much more forgiving of everyone and everything of the series.

So, in conclusion, TORCHWOOD - it was OK, the ending though, the ending made it kind of awesome. But objectively speaking, I spent around 80% of the series grinding my teeth (Ianto soothed my anger).

So, Supernatural (WIASNB) will be on television in 20 minutes or so, followed IMMEDIATELY by Torchwood! Channel Ten, I'm really loving you here! Even if you do keep on broadcasting Big Brother. It is down right bizarre to have a BBC series being shown on commercial television, usually it is the ABC or SBS, but nope, Channel Ten managed to get the rights to Torchwood. Oh gods, I hope they also pick up season 2 and 3 of Doctor Who. Channel Ten, be the television whore that you are MEANT to be!

I love the Supernatural fandom like I love food and breathing. The fics, the meta, the music, the pic spams, and the mass explosion of oavries on a daily basis make me so damn happy.

WHY ISN'T IT FRIDAY YET?! That is, I have been re-watching the preview for this Thursday's SPN episode. Dean is like - um, yeah. *Happy noises*.

On other news - is Torchwood worth downloading? Captain Jack Harkness is cool but I'm not sure if I want to watch a whole series of him (OK, I admit I have been watching the clips of the show on youtube but that's not the same as actually watching a whole episode.)
