Watched E's Otherwise and Matantei Loki Ragnarok's openings and bits of the first ep (not even the whole ep, just bits). I think the two series op have hit all of my no-no buttons. So, yes, I'm fairly pissed and bitter at the two pieces of crap. This entry will probably offend those who like feathers, wings and overly pink female leads who do shit all. And yes, there will be much swearing.

I HATE man/boy with big fluffy wings. I HATE! The fact that those fluffy things is not even aerodynamic just annoys me (bat wings would be more acceptable). I've had it with fucking wings. The heroes are powerful with psychic powers (telekinetic anyone!?!) they don't need the bloody things to tire them down. They are pretty, they are USELESS! You DON'T NEED them!!!! Characters can look good without molting contraptions that make them look like CLAMP rejects who was just not pretty enough to make it into X. What's worse is the fact that those wings probably won't even bloody appear in the anime series anyway.

And that's another thing, why the fuck do you need a stupid insignificant feather in the opening anyway? It have been so fucking overused that if I see another floating feather in a bloody opening I'm going to hit something, that, or rip the above mentioned twerp's wings off. Beside, is there even any symbolic reasoning or is it just 'Ohhh, girls like angels, let's add feathers and wings'. Well, fuck you people! It doesn't work on people with more than the brain power of one brain cell. Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. Yes, I'm bitter at anime and the crap that actually gets subbed.

Also, what the hell are anime/manga creators thinking? Female characters look like dorks. Hell, a whale's penis probably looks better. Over using pink and making them look like the are wet dreams for old Lolitacon perverts does not make them appeal to everyone. If you can't make a strong, smartly dressed female who doesn't look like they are 6-yr-old. Don't fucking bother!!! I can even stand the overly endowed female, but I -can't- stand them when they look like they are wearing something a 6-yr-old would wear and have no fucking dress sense whatsoever. Just have men in the series and let the female audience see homoerotic content, it isn't like you're trying to endear the series to the male audience anyway.

If you want to make your openings attract the female audience learn from the Saiyuki openings. The anime series might have been shit, but at least they made one fucking hot opening with -good- music and no geeky looking girls who wears pink and looks like they need to be perpetually saved. If I listen to one more crappy, can't-decide-whether-to-be-fast-or-slow song I'm gonna rip something apart. And they didn't have ANY wings or feathers!!!

End rant. Will -not- watch anymore of the two series. I don't care if it gets better, I DON'T care. They suck and nothing is changing my mind. If you don't like what I'm saying, fine. Swear back at me. Grr.

[Edit: Food have made me a much happier and mellow individual. Well I think I could've done without the swearing I still hold all the sentiments towards wings, feathers and stupid female character designs. Oh, and of course, the two series]

Yes sakura is indeed more cliched but it have symbolism and stuff and one single feather and wings really doesn't have that much of a meaning.

Oh alright, I take it back. To be fair, cherry blossoms were probably used for the same reasons that feathers and wings were used. It's pretty, let's overdose. Grr.

But back to my point; I'm rather sick of sakura as well (blaming CLAMP as well, my gods, I can blame so much of my current hate on CLAMP). And I just wish they would be a bit more creative.

Obviously dandruff won't do, but pretty paper and pretty leaves might do. Gods, I'm desperate.

Oh, there IS. I believe Tin mentioned it a short while back because it was being wanked about somewhere. Not anime wingfic either. Real Person wingfic! One wonders, really.

And I'd agree with the rant except that I *do* like manga/anime featuring pretty boys with wings (Escaflowne, DNAngel *coughhack*) Though not a lot of them. I'm a shounen h0, baby, and wings are sissy!

And the thing about the female character designs is SO RIGHT. Unless it's some sort of cultural thing and girls in Japan really DO dress like that, but still, it can't be that bad... >_> The manga world needs MORE kick ass girls and scary women.

I don't mind Escaflowne (DN Angel is another story, but let's not go there). The thing with Esca is that it have a reason for Van having wings. A well thought out and plausible reason. And Van didn't go around with wings all the time. The wings were actually -important-, it had a function even if it was a funciton of the plot. How many anime actually have wings that isn't just for show and is something that have so much history and issues that you can weild a stick at it? And I refuse to think about angel type anime/manga.

Maybe it depends on what you read. Shoujo tends towards having rather girly girls (or maybe that's my impression because I hven't read much of it rcently), but shounen is starting to show variation, if Bleach and Mankin and OP are anything to go by. XD (OP femmes don't always kick actual ass, but they're definitely cool people in their own right and only Alvida wears pink. XD;)

Rukia and Anna should have tea and kick the asses of all the other wimpy girls! They'd win, hands down, not even trying yet. Anna would just have to GLARE and they'd burst into tears! XD

And yes, the the whole angel thing rather annoys me too. Angelic pretty boys, my arse. *boots them*

...though I've never seen the previously mentioned anime, its just a phase really. During the whole X/Clamp/Yami no Matsuei phase, it was the sakura petals. Now it's the feathers and wings. I'm fairly sure the whole thing will just blow over.

And CLAMP. (!!!) I take it against them for perpetrating this whole mess in the first place. I'm not sure I see the beauty in X at ALL. Call me unartistic, but I don't really see what everyone is raving about in X. Or CLAMP in general. I don't know, their panelling kinda seems like BIG PRETTY PINUPS, much like KamiKaze's is just several BIG PRETTY PINUPS, but without the great screentoning. But I sense that this is not the time for a diatribe against CLAMP. (I'm bitter, much like you are bitter)

Don't watch the series. It's crap. Well you're right in that it's a phase, however, feathers have also been around since the X/CLAMP days *sigh* Either way I'm hoping good anime series will not fall for the wings or stupid feathers. And if they're going to have wings, keep the numbers down.

On CLAMP: Total agreement, and I only have this to say for myself. I was young, I was stupid, I so wish I could smack myself back then. You're right, their pannelling for anything that's not pin up material kinda suck majorly. Good, as long as someone is bitter with me.

And ohhhhhhhhhhhhh the Suikoden cookies have made me happy. And surprises of surprises I actually wrote a short, I do mean short snippet, of Suikoden 1 fic. It's Tir and it's a bit messed up. Will tidy and clean and might eventually post up.
