Transformers, She-Ra, etc. childhood memories. What were yours?
Watched the Transformers movie today. Had forgotten why I love Optimus Prime so much. Remember now. The dude rocks. Was in serious need to sniffle when he died *sniffle* But damn, the film is awesome. Already want to re-watch it again.
If you haven't gathered it yet Transformers was one of my favourite childhood cartoon series (it might possibly still be one of my fav series). Beyond it there were several other cartoon series that made my childhood that much more memorable. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Go Shogun, the Wizard of Oz (Return to Oz?) French anime that got down right nasty near the end, the Odyssey (once again, I believe it was French and set in Space), and of course She-ra (kick arse woman, she was so much cooler than He-man, never liked the guy much).
The above series were possibly my most memorable moments from my childhood. They drove my imagination to the point were I was running around the place weilding plastic swords/guns proclaiming I was going to save the world. This, was of course, in between me trying to find my way home (usually Earth), meeting alien races (who always looked like humans), stopping intergalactic wars (by killing the bad guys), and developing friendships that would last me through the age (often with the mentioned aliens). I was a very busy hero. Hmm, if you think about it, I was writing fanfiction in my head and acting them out long before I ever discovered what fandom was.
But yes, they made my life all the richer when Play School (American, Australian or the Chinese equivalent), live hosts for children shows, and people in puppet suit pissed me off. Just because I was four didn't mean I couldn't tell the difference between someone real from a badly made suit, or that someone was purposely speaking slowly to me as if I didn't have the brain capacity of a gold fish. The Teletubies would have met a horrible end if I had ever met them. The only 'educational' show that I could remotely stand was 'Sesame Street' and even then it had to be a very limited amount.
Even as a child I needed the angst, the action, and the over-arching, melodramatic plot-lines that made some of my favourite cartoon series favourite in the first place. So, what are your childhood nostalgic series? And what were your pet peeves? Share.
And a quiz;

What (yaoi) anime pairing are you?
this quiz was made by Eike and Mirai
Don't ask. I don't know. This is like the ultiamte crack couple.

I can't believe mangaka wrote Amiboshi? to like Miyako? damn can't even remember the names... only hotohori's name stick in my mind. androgynous hotohori! kekeke
I dont recall Wizard of Oz tho, but do love Transformers i wanna rewatch the whole series!!! My cuz has the whole construction trucks (green) set? that forms a whole mecha, plus the whole dinosaurs set that forms a whole mecha!!! Hmmm wonder if he still has it ... can sell for muchly!
me *hearts* naanima
Re: Ultimate crack couple
As for their names...I can remember a surprising number of them. Hotohori, Tamahome, Tasuki, Chihiri, Nakago, Soi, Miaka, Yui, Nuriko, etc. This is sort of sad from a self-confessed -hater- of Fushigi Yugi (not the whole series... just most).
Oh yeah, 'Transformers' rocks. I had the dino-bots, and Optimus Prime ^__^ Unfortunately I can't find them anymore. And hell yeah, they would sell for a lots!
me *hearts* nekomancy
Re: Ultimate crack couple

They don't make cartoons like them anymore. ;_:
... Can't remember anything that pissed me off, really.

Gotta agree with you there, cartoons were much better back then... mind you considering the fact that only one out of the list of cartoons I liked were true American I suppose it's sort of debatable ^^;;;
It's good you can't remember anything that pissed you off. You had a nice childhood ^^

Even from the beginning, you were destined for anime. XD
And nice childhood... actually, I could just be suffering from selective amnesia. I certainly remember being quite a wimp/crybaby... *looks sheepish*

Ohh, 'destined for anime' sound good. I like. Me think that's an icon waiting to happen.
Is alright, everyone does it. Hell, I can't even what happened to me four days ago ^^;;
Hey thanks Lilack
Re: Hey thanks Lilack

IIRC, telemachus' best friend was a cute little blue girl. her sleeping big brother was studly >:D

*nods* Ultra Magnus got the bad deal.
YES, the Odyssey is Ulysses (can't even remember the name straight, shame on me) YES. YES. YES. They were indeed trying to find their way back to earth. God yeah, her brother was just gorgeous. I'm so glad someone knows what I'm speaking of.

But Transformers. Yeah, it was -all- about Transformers. And you are right, the movie was awesome. I love Unicron's Theme, if I run into you at uni, you'll probably hear me mumbling doododochhchhchhdoododo..., all the while pretending I am a giant robo planet HUNGERING for the food that is other robot planets.
Look you, there's nothing wrong with He-Man. His lioncloth and his mullet are quite charming in fact, and his cat Cringer...RAWR! I have the POWER! (though admittedly She-Ra could kick his ass.)
I still know the Turtle's theme song. (not this new shit, the old deal yanno.) Will demonstrate along with unicron's theme. Raphael was TEH COOL.
Yanno, I always liked Fat Cat, adored him daresay, but could not stand Humphrey. Humphrey was a ponce anyways, he had an letter for his middle name. He had a middle name period. Fancy that. Duhr hur...=D

Man, the opening with the Unicron devouring that planet was fucking awesome. I was practically drooling at the concept and design. The design is fucking awesome, the whole sequence is just beyond cool.
There's so much wrong with He-Man, he wears a loin cloth as you pointed out, and teh cat was a wuss.... but okay, the mullet was sort of endearing and he had his moment. But She-Ra RULES!
I don't remember the theme but I so would recognise it if you hum it to me ^^ I liked all of them. They all had their unique quirks.
Didn't get enough of FatCat and Humphrey is so gay. On second thought, he isn't gay, he gives gay people a bad name. He just sucked and let's leave it at that.
