OT3 poll

[livejournal.com profile] i_smile, the OT3 poll is done. Not the best, but hey, not everyone can be perfect. Take the poll, I'm kinda interested.

[Poll #557906]

Naruto, dude...! :D

I'm not so sure about question two. Would f/m/m mean that the middle m is the one the other two focus on? But in that case, why is m/m/f also listed?

My other problem is, I'd be answering this for three or four pairings; I have a few favourites right now. But I don't want to mess up you data!

... I was more thinking about the physical positioning <_< Oh, don't worry, no one has answered it yet, so, you won't spoil the result :D

[identity profile] i-smile.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
But I am still left confused.

[identity profile] naanima.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Now I know you are messing with me.

Well, I suppose the quesiton is; whose on top? Or maybe whose the emotional top, or however, you want to interpret it.

You, my dear, obviously do not read enough OT3s :p

[identity profile] i-smile.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
:DD But I'm not so much interested if there's a clear X tops Y tops Z thing, anyway, or X & Z focus on Y-who's-in-the-middle. (I thought you meant the latter in question two, but if you did, f/m/m and m/m/f are the same thing.) I want them all to be under each other's sway, so it's X/Y & X/Z & Y/Z & X/Y/Z all at once, where "being top" is totally under question at all times both emotionally and physically.

There is a tragic lack! I doubt it is possible ever to read enough, anyway. :D

OK, wait, I'll explain what I mean. I have those five OMGOT3s at the moment, although of course there's also Hermione/Harry/Ron & Sakura/Naruto/Sasuke & Hinata/Naruto/Neji, which are still all DO NOT BREAK OT3 but which I've read enough of or written enough of not to be totally fixated on. But x/y/z doesn't exactly explain anything to me, in terms of How They Are Positioned, in that my preferred dynamic for that tends to be psychological rather than physical. So, like. To take Pansy/Percy/Neville, I imagine it less about What Goes Where than about, say, Pansy directing Neville to do something to Percy. And she's not directly acknowledging Percy, even, but she says what she's saying, the way she's saying it, in order to get a reaction from Percy as much as to make Neville act on him. So it's sort of Pansy->Neville, Pansy->Percy, Neville->Percy?

And then in the case of Kabuto/Orochimaru/Sakura, of course Orochimaru is going to be the focus for both of them, so it'd be Kabuto->Orochimaru<-Sakura, but at the same time, Kabuto & Sakura would have to have a sort of collusion there--they understand each other, they'd be closer to peers than either could ever be with Orochimaru, both of them sort of have to be careful with Orochimaru, can't really let him in (...er, not that they can let anyone in. But even more than that, it's imperative that Orochimaru in particular doesn't know what they're thinking). So there's this whole other level to it that doesn't include Orochimaru at all, except in the way he's sort of always in everything in Sound. And that'd have to come out physically in some way, surely; you don't have awareness of power balances without acting on them at least in attitude.

If it just boils down to What Goes Where, I'm not really interested. It's implications I'm after, and complications.

....

Hmm, and I think I need to re-organise the poll.

Poll names 'Emotional Positioning' and 'Pron Purposes'.

So, you are looking at the dynamics between the couples, while I was mroe thinking along the physical, though I admit the physical and the psychological are always very mixed for me. It is very difficult for me to separate the two, mainly because I find the two hard to separate.

[identity profile] i-smile.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
But I think we might come up with the same problem. I mean, even if it's just X tops Y physically, they're not going to stop with the first sex act they perform, right? At least, that's what I assume. :D And I'd doubt they'd use the shampoo method (lather, rinse, repeat); they'd mix it up, so that then Y is physically topping X in some way. And with a third person there, given all the extra possibilies there now are, doing it the same way every time would make me think they're all suffering a massive, inexcusable failure of imagination.

Off Topic!! ANSWER! GRRRR!

[identity profile] naanima.livejournal.com 2005-08-29 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
How the hell do you apply Cramer's rule to CANON? Derivatives and Matriceis does NOT equal canon in my BRAIN! EXPLAIN to ME DAMMIT! EXPLAIN! Or I will NEVER be able to bulldoze my way through an economic/financial equation because [livejournal.com profile] i_smile decided to mess with my poor brain!

EXPLAIN! *shakes fist at you*

Haha, actually, I mean it sort of figuratively. I mean, I'm not going in and assigning letters to the parts of canon & making equations. It's more that I'm looking at canon and working out What Sakura Would Do If Naruto Went Out Of Order, ceteris paribus. :D I don't need to know what Kiba's going to do, right, or Neji? Just looking to solve for the one variable, Sakura. (As an example.)
