Gundam SEED, and the Seiyuu cast that hurtsss ussss

So, I finally got around to watching Gundam SEED. This can only end in tears. I know my Gundam series. They will make me hate characters, love characters, get terribly involved in their lives and their relationships, and just when there might be a silver lining, they will kill my favourite character, make emotional wrecks out of the ones I like (deep, dark, black holes of soul-sucking depression). But of course, as I have said, survival instincts of a lemming here, so, watch me let Gundam SEED eat my life, hurt my brain, and make me scream in pain.

In addition, the seiyuu cast for Gundam SEED hurtss usssss. Kira channels Goku at the weirdest time (because he sure ain't channeling Kazuma), Athrun is so unlike Hakkai (as it should be but my brain have been playing connect the dots, and Ishida Akira as Hakkai seem to come on top every single time), that it takes me a few seconds for my brain to switch track. Also, Seki Toshihiko and Koyasu Takehito are so over-powering that my brain get swamped with characters they have played before. Though I admit I giggle every time Raww Le Kleuze opens his mouth. It is a trained reaction. Tomokazu Seki as Yzak Jule is just priceless, and Kotono Mitsuishi is pretty much spot on as always (HARO? HARO?!).

But, Gaara! Gaara is standing behind Athrun! :D This show, though. I started skipping it at screenings, because I had no idea what was going on and why Athrun and Kira had suddenly switched girlfriends and who owned that gundam suit this time, &c. &c. And then they put on GS Destiny to totally confuse things even more, if you thought you had some idea of what was happening.

The thing is, Gaara is such a un-Akira Ishida role (and voice) that my brain refuses to assimilate that particular fact. I know it is Akira Ishida proclaiming death to all, but on an emotional level it just doesn't connect. I can't decide if this is the part of Ishida's talent or some fault of my brain (probably the former, but a helping dose of the latter). GundamSeed, and any Gundam series, one need to see the whole thing in order to make sense of the whole bloody thing. But having watched the original Gundam series, and several other Gundam series I can pretty much predict the major plot lines. What I can't predict is who will survive, and who will die.

I have some ideas but I'm not saying anything unitl I have seen the whole series, and considering mid-terms starts next week, this might take awhile.

Don't watch Destiny before SEED! Bad, bad idea.

*beatific smile* Yes, yes it will. Seed is definitely my favorite of the Gundam stories, so far, though.

I can take or leave Seed Destiny, but the seiyuu for that will tie your brain in even tighter knots...

I'm pretty much resigned myself to having my heart ripped out. Can't make a decision on the fav. series yet, though so far, ZetaGundam and Char's Counter Attack are my fav. Gundam series. (This is possibly due to me being a die hard Char fan.)

I love the Seiyuu. I do. I just wish I didn't feel so overwhelmed.

And yes, the series will end in tears. Not that I don't already expect it. They are already killing my favorite characters in other series, why not Gundam SEED, too? >_< But it's so difficult impossible to resist once I have a taste.

I don't see Kira as Goku at all mostly because Kira is a wussy and Goku is not. (<- what kind of logic is that? XD) And Athrun practically IS Ishida Akira by now.

Yes I AM! *__* The sparkles I feel for this series will only be paralleled by the screaming anguish I'm going to feel.

I know your pain, my fav series seem to insist on killing my favourite characters (or at least likable characters). It is unfair, it is a conspiracy, and like the lemming I am I shall continue to watch.

It is in the scream of anger and pain, during those times Goku manage to sneak through (it is the best kind of logic, Kira compared to Goku is definitely a wussy). You think? You must explain the Athrun=Ishida Akira. My brain is forever stuck on Ishida taking up sneaky/tricky/evil/smiling characters, even though realistically speaking, Ishida Akira have been
taking the angry (or at least monotone) teenager angle lately.
