HunterXHunter and somehow it evolved into a mini-rant on Naruto/Sasuke

Re-watching HunterXHunter.

KILLUA *squish* RABURABU!

If Togashi-sensei ever gets over his sprawling attention span and start concentrating on the main plot involving Gon's father, or Kurapika's vengeance against the Ryodan I'll be forever grateful. Hell, work in Killua's family and I'll be a mindless mass of pure happiness. Mind you, having a condensed running commentary of the newest volume by [livejournal.com profile] nekomancy give me hope. Gon's teacher has appeared, and the Hunters have made a mass appearance against the... uh... bug/human/animal hybrid.

I have hope for HXH no matter how much the current plotline sounds like a 50's B-grade horror/sc-fi film. Let's face it, manga/anime like any other medium, reuse plots and ideas, it's just a matter of how well the old themes are worked into the new format. Therefore, I have hope! To tell you the truth I'm much more in love with the HXH manga and anime than I am with Naruto.

Gon and Killua's friendship is a healing balm for me against Naruto and Sasuke's melodrama of a relationship. When I say relationship I mean that in every way. If Naruto and Sasuke are not screwing each other now they will be in the future. I refuse to say I'm imagining Naruto/Sasuke when K-sensei is all but shovelling it down our collective throats under the pretense of a 'platonic' rivalry.

See, three/four volumes ago I was all 'Naruto and Sasuke in the manga are only friends/rivals. It's only my fangirl mind that see the potential for anything more.' NO more. Three/four volumes ago it seemed Sasuke actually cared for Sakura, three/four volumes ago I thought Naruto was finally going to notice Hinata, three/four volumes ago Naruto and Sasuke weren't even interacting with each other. NO more. Now it's pretty much Naruto and Sasuke all way. Hell, ever when neither is seen in the manga it's still the 'Naruto and Sasuke' show.

See, this is what happens when the mangaka spend four volumes painting a world where it is all about Naruto and Sasuke. So, no more guilt (never felt any to begin with) over Naruto and Sasuke. As far as I'm concerned Naruto and Sasuke doing the hot monkey sex at some point in the future is canon (even if it isn't on screen). So, unless K-sensei suddenly decide to do a 180 degree turn and make Sakura the centre of the Universe for Sasuke, and stop telling us that Sasuke is like Naruto's one and only 'friend' my yaoi fangirl and my logical normal girl are in 100% agreement.

Some people say I'm delusional, personally I prefer observant ^__^V Beside, unless someone can prove me 100% wrong I'm gonna stick to what I'm seeing.

I have been hoping for too long now. But I have DN, Naruto, PoT, etc. to tide me over.

Naruto is actually very plotful. Kishimoto doesn't annoy the reader by not finishing things. He follows through. It takes him fifty chapters to do it, true, but you have faith he will get there.

>_> <_< I think he doesn't know himself and is just killing time, perhaps.

Yes, and how brilliant DN is keeping my attention. Raito and L in the same room melts my brain for several reasons. The sheer gall of both characters, the brilliance of their minds (sociopathic and neurotic), and the mind games, oh the mind games. How I love DN. Naruto is something that need to to be followed because dammit there are too many characters I care for in the series to drop now. As for PoT... I need my weekly fix -_-;;;;

True. It's just that I wish that he would just hurry it up a bit *sigh* See, this is when I wish I hadn't began to read Naruto until it was at least 30+ volumes.

Yes, it does... It is just so good that I don't know where it is going to go next, even if the emotional atmosphere is chilly and the only live character I really care for is Chief Yagami.

Naruto just demands to be followed for the cliffhangerness.

Nah, Kishimoto knows where he is going fairly certainly for the next arc, IMHO. He just likes to give himself lots of time. Togashi-sensei, on the other hand, I am not so sure about.

I think that's why DN is so fascinating. None of the main cast are what you can call 'sympathetic characters'. In fact the author distinctively remove the reader from the characters, and that is interesting. The lack of emotions, the insistence of cold logic is just so fascinating. And you are right Chief Yagami is the only character that I care about.

CLIFFHANGERS! Arghhhh. How i hate them. Make me wait for weeks why don't you *sighs*

True, true. I do get the distinct feeling that Naruto is pretty much planned out. It's just that K-sensei is taking the scenic route. Normally I wouldn't mind, but the cliffhangers are killing me, and the Naruto Vs Sasuke face off NEED to happen soon, or else I'm going to start ripping out my own hair. I need to know.

As for Togashi. No question about it. He just doens't seem to have a clue. It's almost, 'Oh this sounds like fun. Let's try it.'

Yeah, that's what really makes it the anti-WJ series. XD No hugging! No learning! (Oh, okay, people can hug, but just as long as they don't really mean it.) L is the 'good guy,' but I don't really connect on an emotional level with him, because Raito has protagonist status, and because we have so little sense of his motivation. I have a sense though, that in the future some of this reader/authorial detachment will come crashing down.

Naruto: See, that is why Kishimoto is evil. >_> He is Lord of the Twenty-Five Chapter Exposition!

Togashi: I dunno, I didn't think the giant bug thing was really much fun.

And hugging is such a interesting method of getting rid of suspicion ^_^ Me neither, I don't think L is meant to be connected on an emotional level, but as you said a lots of the detachment is gonna come crashing down. And I CAN'T wait!!! (happy little angst fangirl)

*laughs* Lord of the Twenty-Five Chapter Exposition! That's it that's how K-sensei is gonna be dubbed as from now on.

At this point I fall back on the whole 'mangaka's are weird to begin with, and their sense eof fun is sorta warped' ^^;;;; The only that's going for me through the bug thing is that Gon's sensei makes an appearance, and he has a kick arse weapon ^_^
