SPN312 - Jus in Bello
Good survival!horror episode. Yay!
I LOVE BELA! I don't CARE! I just think she is ALL sorts of AWESOME! Also, who ELSE think Lilith is Bela's MISSING/DEAD family member? Come on, WHO? And I'm so hoping Ruby will be going after Bela because she need that Colt.
I liked that Nancy was a virgin because it is a choice, I have several very attractive female friends who are virgins due to their own choosing. However, I kind of hated the fact that someone of virtue had to be a virgin, but I suppose taking Ruby's experience during the middles ages it makes sense that all her spells would involve some form of sacrifice of the pure. But it is one of the few jarring points in the episode for me, not the virgin but the fact that the virgin had to be sacrificed in order for the spell to work. It would have worked much better if they needed to sacrifice one female and one male rather than the ONLY VIRGIN FEMALE, that would have worked for me.
Henriksen's death does not leave me happy, but it does make a very good point about how this war should be conducted. I don't particular agree with it because I think Dean is right; MURDER does NOT equal the RIGHT choice even if does mean saving more people. I'd hope that compassion is what makes us better than the demons. Also, Dean was RIGHT, they did WIN, and what would have Ruby's spell done? Yes, killed the demons, but I doubt Lilith wouldn't have come down herself anyway, especially when half of her army didn't return to her.
This does not mean that I'm happy about Henriksen's death, I want him ALIVE. I'll be looking at fanfics to provide me with the AUs!
Ruby's actions confuse me in this episode, I don't' understand why she is willing to sacrifice herself for Sam. It just doesn't make sense, actually most of Ruby's actions during this episode doesn't make sense, and I can only think that once again she's LYING and attempting to turn Sam/backstab the boys sometime at a later point. It is only thing that makes sense. I just don't buy her self-sacrificing actions, there must be some other ulterior motive for her or I'm going to be sorely disappointed.
Lilith - I am really, really, really excited about this. Also, DEFINITELY Bela's sister. Shush, I can dream.
Overall, I was very happy with this episode! More thinky that squee, but it is all good.

I am loving this new season so far - each episode, while a case in itself, is dropping little hints or uncovering certain realisations that really whet the appetite for upcoming eps.
I devoutly hope Bela gets her comeuppance. I am waiting for the ep where someone - yes, preferably Ruby - delivers the smackdown, and she finally Gets It.
Was a little surprised that Henrikson was offed at this point. While the boys' criminal slate has been wiped clean, it felt a little too neatly wrapped up in this ep for me, but that's just a petty thought - I guess the show's setting the stage for the real deal with Lilith now.
Ahaha your feminist shines through. It makes sense though, the traditional kaboodle about the virgin sacrifice. It could mean either male or female, and well, guys can't keep it in their pants? =P
While I'm ambivalent about Ruby, I definitely like her more than Bela, which sort of sucks since I'm expecting Ruby to die somehow, whether she's a backstabber or not. =(

"Yeah, but you didn't kill the deputy." And Sam's WTF face. XD

See, overall I'm happy with this season, however, as you said my inner feminist is screaming at the top of her lungs and really the witch episode really made me incapable of hand-waving. I still love the show I just don't want another episode like the witches' one to test my patience.
Bela need to be smacked down, and by the gods I'm going to enjoy it. The whole thing will be glorious. I LOVE Bela because of her mercenary ways I hope they don't make her less so just because they want someone with a heart of gold.
Henriksen's death made me very SAD, I really wanted my Henriksen turns into a Hunter spin-off. It would have been glorious. I'm so looking forward to Lilith, I just hope I get the pay off, because I still feel a bit cheated by how easily YED died, and how easily the 7 Sins were taken out. I EXPECT some awesome fighting here.
I like Ruby because I do NOT trust anything she says, I like her because she has her own motive, and I like her because she is all sorts of kick ass. I like Bela because she is someone that makes sense, you don't have to like her but she is, at the very least, truthful to what she is.
And yes Sammy's put-off look is a thing of AWESOMENESS!
I really do love this season more than season 2.
