Watched Taken the other day; it was both satisfying and down-right frustrating. While Liam Neeson plays his role with a cold ruthlessness that makes me cheer and clap, I was often left frustrated by the treatment of the victims in the film. ( spoilers )

Let’s just say I kept on repeating to myself that it isn’t a thinking film, it was a simple action/vengeance film, though it still made me fairly angry at the writers at times. Fucking lazy writing.

In conclusion; not a bad film, from an action/vengeance film angle it does amazingly well. The unresolved questions and the complete uncaring attitude of the main hero for all the other victims but his daughter soured the whole experience for me. So, worth watching, but if you are a woman who is very aware of gender issues than you may want to watch it with the aid of alcohol.

Also watched the American version of Shutter. Getting bored with white, blonde girl exploring the 'mystical' and 'alien' Asian culture crap. Get the fuck over it. And like the Grudge the whole film could have been 30 minutes shorter and it wouldn't have made a difference to the plot. In conclusion, boring.
