Roman Polanski raped a child. Please get it right.

The man admitted to raping a 13-yr-old girl whom said no repeatedly, he humiliated, drugged and then raped her. So, fuck all the Hollywood celebrities who think we should save the dick. Go fuck yourselves.

If you haven't heard already, the Australian Government is pushing to implement an internet filter that's aimed at censoring 'illegal' material on the internet. This filtered internet will be mandatory to all Australians with a second more restrictive 'clean feed' filter to protect children from harmful content.

Such a mechanism has serious consequences for free speech and access to information. On a technical side, it will also drastically reduce internet speeds in a country that is already ridiculously behind other wired countries in the world, with some tests reporting network performance reductions between 20-75 percent.

Currently, the only other countries in the world that have implemented such government filtering censorship of the internet are places like Burma/Myanmar, China and North Korea. Australia is a peaceful fully functioning democracy. A filtered internet goes against our principles and is complete overkill for a problem that should be addressed through education and parents. We don't NEED let alone WANT any kind of government censorship of the internet, and luckily, there's already a movement to fight it.

No Clean Feed - Stop Internet Censorship in Australia

ETA: I'm rather curious how this will go down. I don't imagine the media or the lawyers will take this sitting down. The firework over this is going to be interesting.

No opt-out of filtered Internet.

Dear Australian Parliament and Mr. Rudd,

I did not vote you into office for you to fuck with my already slow-as-fuck internet connection and speed. I voted you in for many other reasons, which you have not delivered.

Also, I'm pretty sure this is becoming a bit too close to encroaching on individual civil rights, and we all remember what happened with the whole Sydney government.

No love,
naanima

P.S. Dear lazy parents,
Do your fucking job, and let the rest of us who understand the word ‘responsibility’ enjoy our internet.

[livejournal.com profile] _leareth, I'm interested in what you have to say to this farce.

Oh, and Sarah Palin's Yahoo email account was hacked by 4chan. Awesome.

Yes, it is an invasion of privacy, but there is two issues here. Palin broke the law by using her private email account for government correspondance. I'm curious whether they will be able to find the original hacker, and if they do, what kind of fallout will there be.
