Still around – reading spn_j2_bigbang and re-watching DBSK’s 3rd Live T Tour Concert clips on my iPod. Bigbang fics has been very draining this year, don’t get me wrong, the quality has been superb, but some of the angst has been both unflinching and unrelenting. As a consequence I have finally figured out what type of stories I prefer to read; generally speaking I prefer reading understated J2 fics, not the epics but fics that focus on the day-to-day lives of our heroes. I want to read about people falling in love; not the be all and end all love like that of Sam and Dean (platonic or otherwise). I want the quiet, understated and content love that some of the J2 fics has been pulling off so superbly.

reccea’s In Production is my current favourite big bang fic.

A decade after Supernatural ends, Jared Padalecki is still working in series television. His marriage to Sandy is coming to an amicable end, and he's famous enough that he wants to be out of town before he becomes a tabloid headline.

Jensen Ackles has seen his career progress from small but weighty parts that earned him acclaim to above the title billing. The notoriously private Jensen extends an invitation--by way of a first-class plane ticket--for Jared to hide out at Jensen's mostly empty Paris flat while he films his next movie.

Three months in Paris is enough to tone down the tabloid attention, but Jared returns to LA only to find that he doesn't have everything figured out. They say you can't go home again, but Jared discovers that sometimes that's exactly what you have to do.

perseid, DBSK’s 3rd Live T Tour Concert clips has been awesome; so much dancing, so much singing and so much FLESH! I really like the film clip they did for TRICK; it makes me want to read fics about the boys being spies. I love like YunHo’s long hair, the shiny silver outfits and they even made me like Tomorrow, which I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns. I still prefer YunChun’s voice the most, and a live band at the concert was the best decision they ever made.
Good time, good times.

It has CULT FILMS! OUTSIDER POV! DORK JARED! INTELLIGENT JARED! And just OMFG! I LOVE this so very much! There NEED to be MORE!

Live and Die This Way by goldatamera. Pre-series; Dean finds what was lost, this made my heart clench and I couldn't decide whether I wanted to cry or laugh in joy.

To The Left of Avalon by deadspeaker. A thousand years in the future, Dean meets a child on Mars whom he finds oddly familiar. Manages to pack in a whole universe with layers of humanity and history in 1,619 words. Even though I pretty much guessed the plot points from the summary alone, I was literally at the edge of my seat as if braising for impact. The final three words to this fic is like a punch to the gut or the feeling of sun kissing your cheeks (possibly both) - satisfying, works on its own, but ohhh, I want more.

Secure the Blessing by rahmi.

A Supernatural gen fic; Sam makes a wish. Dean is not pleased. It is 21,000 words of pure awesomeness, I don't want to spoil anyone further because reading this with no preconceptions is just an amazing experience. I love that the fic deals with the logistics of an action and its consequences. I love that Sam is not dumb, he's John Winchester's son and he knows that nothing is ever without a price or a sacrifice. And Dean, oh Dean, the BESTEST older brother ever.

REC: Torchwood Fic: Snowdon by rivier. Her summary for this fic: Owen, Ianto, and the shape left by the absence of Jack. I am incoherent with glee! This- this is the fic that I have been waiting for Post-End Of Days. It is just OMFG!Awesome! The characters are dead-on, the way each of them deal with their own grief. I just love! This fic made me smile, laugh and at times scream "OH NOES!" I love. It is gen, I don't care what other people say, the fic is gen. LALALALALA!

Alive, just been having way too many 12-hour days lately. Need to read books on management, superannuation and matters of finance. Fandom? Hmm, bb_shousetsu makes my week. Personal faves of this issue; Bedtime Stories by H. Kiyosumi, Created Perfection by Satoimo Taro (里芋たろ) , and Memory by Shin De (シン・デ). The first because it doesn’t have fan serviced elves (well, at least not mPreg,) there’s just something about the whole thing that remind me of Slayers and, well, fun fantasy stories. The second because it is just beautiful and dark like really, really rich chocolate. And the last because it is my favorite BL cliché done right (ohhh, angst with happy endings.)

ETA: perseid, I think I know who you are though I really can't be 100% sure as I haven't read anything written by you in a very long time. It is more of a theme-thing (gut feeling) than anything else.

How the War was Lost and Won; or, the Many Untimely Deaths of one Tom Marvolo Riddle. The prompt was: give me a character (from anything, although I will just make stuff up if I don't know who they are) and I will tell you how they defeated Lord Voldemort.

The BESTEST sort of crack. The weird and wonderful ways that Lord V gets killed.

A Deeper Season: chapter 15 is just amazing! Politics, my friends, politics. Miles is action man, there's going to be a new heir *snorts*, and sometime being a spook for an intergalactic empire kind of sucks, especially when you might have possibly helped the other side.

So, in about 15 minutes I'm officially back to work *pouts* but before I do; a few recs.

Terminator
I love the original Terminator movie to little fan-heart bits, however, this is not to say that I didn't ever want a happy-ish ending for Sarah Connor & Kyle Reese (did I ever). So, without further ado; The Unwritten Future (het, R) because omfg! Sarah & Kyle Reese deserved happiness (of a sort)! This fic make me all happy in the bestest of ways. When het pairings are done right. Summary: Time had never been the same since Kyle Reese stepped out of a fused glass crater and into the streets of Los Angeles. He had never really expected to survive his mission into the past.

Miles Vorkosigan
This fic drew me in & won't let me go. It is absolutely wonderful, I am so fecking addicted. perseid, you know how every time I rec you stuff and you always feel slightly unsure, well listen to me, this is one of those recs that I make to you & you avoid until one day you cave and it is like the best & the most addictive crack ever. In conclusion; read this & rant at me later.

PG-13. Miles/Gregor. Drama, action, romance. 720 kb Post-Memory, AU. Take one Miles, a hapless cousin, Cetagandan social politics, a galactic conspiracy, a scientific discovery, a lot of firepower, and an unexpected declaration. Mix well and step back quickly.

Go, and read incandescens' fanfiction. I recommend Opening The Way, which is a wonderfully plotted Getbackers fic, mind you; I would read anything she write. For that matter, read her Saiyuki and Bleach fanfiction.

So, I have been really behind on fandom, RL tend to suck any kind of enjoyment out of my leisure activities. See my surprise when I'm trying to figure out what has been happening in Getbackers for the past few months. All I can say is; Paul?! What?! Not that I didn't see something but WHAT?! And der Kaiser?! aaskjh;gisjd;kgm;'! Why doesn't my f-list inform me of these things? I'm so terribly confused, really, really confused, yet it somehow makes sense in my mind, and incandescens, thank you for writing Unforgiven, sure I can only understand half the implied back-story, but by the gods I'm ridiculously happy.

In short; can someone point me towards the direction of good Getbackers summary of what the hell has been happening, and maybe provide me a chart of who is related to whom, who is currently in the phase of betrayal/death/angst/attempting to recover the past/etc/. Thanks.

ETA: I admit I'm extremely out of touch with the Saiyuki fandom in the sense that I have no idea (on the details) of what has been happening since volume 9 of the series. However, I do read the odd spoilers and way too many fanfiction based on Saiyuki. So, um, realise the following is made without the new context. Latest issue with the conversation between Hakkai and Gojyo: Really Not That Surprising. After all, Hakkai is the man who killed 1,000 (or was that 10,000?) youkai with his bear hands. That kind of single mindedness, that kind of ruthlessness and that kind of drive usually leaves one a little bit fucked up. Though I stand by the fact that I never questioned Hakkai's hold on sanity, ever (and that's a whole essay about the concept of sanity, and just how sane Hakkai is.) Also, really good timing, with the whole Halloween thing *smiles*

Naruto - Ripple Effect 21. I think the fic is DONE!

There is no way for me to convey how and what I feel for this fic. It is gen, it is epic, and at it is core it is Team 7; older, stronger and so much more brittle.

If I can ever only read one fanfiction/novel again I would pick Ripple Effect. Go, read.
