Hello 2008 - Happy New Year Everyone!

2007 was kind of awesome. There were some bad bits but overall '07 was probably the best year I have had in a very long time.

2007 - Things of significant
  • I discovered a little show called Supernatural - [livejournal.com profile] perseid, be proud of the pimp.

  • Have a full time job that I love with the passion of a thousand burning suns.

  • Caught up to 6 seasons of Scrubs

  • Discovered the joy of British television - Doctor Who is love.

  • Got 'officially' engaged - there is a ring and all.

  • Discovered the Korean music industry - DBSK, SuJu, and so forth.

  • Graduated - I now have 2 bachelor degrees, figures that my profession is connected to neither.

  • Figured out what I want in life - kind of.

Year of the Boar

Happy Chinese New Year - it is the Year of the Boar (PIGPIGPIGPIG).

This year I have avoided the red, and spent most of the night in between watching bits of the New Year concert, drinking whiskey and reading emoporn. I love today!

ETA: My understanding of Chinese opera has degenerated - this is both sad and kind of embarrassing. My grandfather would be so disappointed.

New Year 2007

Hope everyone had a great New Years.

In brief: 2006 was a year of obstacles and difficulties. Everything took twice the effort it normally would have, and many a thing kept on blowing up in my face in great and spectacular ways. Yet, overall, I am satisfied with most of the outcomes - things could have been better but it could have been much worse.

Beside, 2006 was a great year in terms of fandom. I messed around with SGA for a couple of months, fell in love with Naruto and Sasuke all over again, fell out of love with Sasuke and Naruto again. I got obsessed with Eyeshield 21, read loads of BL manga, went to Singapore, spent more money than I can afford to, and played games - finished KH, FFXII and got 60+ hours into Suikoden. And the most important of all, fell hard for Supernatural - the fandom that has, so far, broken 99% of my squicks.

For 2007 - for things to be less difficult, and to continue with my love affair with SPN.

updates of a sort

Happy Belated (sort of) Chinese New Year, was meant to update yesterday but got sidetracked by, um, stuff. I spent the eve of the 28th eating lots of food, more food, and then playing Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. I even named my assassin chick MisaMisa (because Misa deserve so much more love and recognition, I bow before her pinky bubblegum-ness). Dear MisaMisa is level 22 at the present time (that's like 22 levels in approximately 24 hours or so. I'm very proud,) she's also decked out in the most expensive armour and weaponry I can find. That's a lot of perfect gems; I discovered the software Atma and have not looked back since then.

Oh, and mum made me wear red; lots of it, about 20 minutes before New Year, she also made me wear a red belt, because you know, it is my Calendar Year (born in the Year of the Dog.)

Have watched a bit of season 9 of SG1; Ben Browder and Claudia Black is still very hot. No matter how the writers tell me otherwise they will forever be John Critchon and Aeryn Sun to me. As a side note, the current arc is actually kind of interesting. I'm always fascinated with the meta of what defines a God, though as this is Stargate, no doubt the writers will write the series out of a moral and a philosophical corner with little consideration for the actual repercussions. *sigh*

Season 2 of SGA makes me laugh and smile; Rodney is just awesome, Sheppard still make my head hurts (I can’t pin down his character, damn you writers, just give the man a history already,) Teyla kicks much arse as usual, Weir have moments of steel (happiness), and I really, really, really like Ronon. He clicks with the team like Ford never did, though Ford ver2.0 makes me happy in all sorts of ways that is really hard to pin down.

Database & New Year Resolution

Ok, I suck, I had to give up on the database idea for my yaoi-manga; too much work involved in getting the concept down for the actual DB. So, instead, I now have a 6-column & 212-row of data in an excel spread sheet. All my BL manga are alphabetised by mangaka name (I'm notoriously bad with mangaka names,) what they have written, what the manga is about, is the series complete, and what series I want more of (utilising colour coding.) The whole thing took over 15 hours. Fifteen hours. The price one pays to have everything organised and perfect. There should be a sense of accomplishment except all I am feeling at the moment is the need for shinier yaoi. Need more.

Anyways, moving on, every year I make a huge list of things that I will do for the new year, this year I'm going to be less specific and more generous to myself. This is is done in the hope that I will actually achieve them by the end of 2006.

1. Be happy
2. Try and see friends more often
3. Be productive
4. Drink less alcohol
5. Lose weight
6. Be content in what I do

Happy belated New Year. To be fair, I'll probably make a bigger deal of it when the Chinese New Year rolls around.
