Let's talk about obvious race issues here.

So, I wake up this morning and wow, the anti-China sentiments and hate, dudes, really getting uncomfortable here. You can criticise the way the Chinese administration organised the Olympics, you can even criticise the way the Chinese government didn’t allow complete freedom of press. However, a comment like ‘As long as China doesn’t win’ really makes it personal and cross several lines. Criticise the regime all you want but make the fucking distinction between criticising a government and the people of the nation.

While I’ll be the first one to agree that the Chinese government sucks incredibly for the heavy censorship of the media as well as torture of its own people please look at your own country before throwing stones. And if you are one of those amazing people who actually have some great suggestions please do so that the Tibetan situation can be safely resolved without starting up dissent all over China that can potentially lead to more deaths, economic back lash and some fucking harsh military actions.

If you have a problem with the government than criticise the government, criticise the organisation committee, but shut the fuck up if you are just going to bad mouth China as a nation because honestly, from where I’m coming from that’s some real heavy racism.

Olympic disappointment

Mum is kind of gutted by Liu Xiang’s withdrawal from the 110m hurdles. She can’t seem to decide whether to be angry or just sad for that ‘poor boy’. Over a billion people pinning their hopes on him, man, I don’t even want to think about the kind of pressure he must have been under.
naanima: ([Tennis] Nadal Wins)
Gold for RAFAEL NADAL Olympic Winner!

Also, Federer, with Stanislas Wawrinka, wins the Men's Doubles. Federer playing doubles! And when he won there was HOPPING and HUGGING, and it was just GLORIOUS!

You know, the more I think about this the more I realise that this is probably the best outcome for a fan of BOTH Nadal and Federer. The former can usher into his position as World #1 with an Olympic win while the latter has finally won an Olympic Gold and seem to be enjoying tennis for the first time in awhile now. I’m just so HAPPY for both of them.

OLYMPICS! & The Office

Nadal and Federer! Semi-finals men's singles and semi-finals men's doubles. EEEE! OK, I am HAPPY!

And OMFG! Why didn’t any of you tell me about The Office (US)? It makes me laugh and want to punch people in the face (usually Michael). I’m currently half way through season 2 and will not watch any further episodes until later in the week (want to see it with the fiancé). I LOVE Jim and Pam to little pieces, they make me swing back and forth between EEE!Happiness! to OMFG!TEARS of Woe! Generally speaking I just want the two of them to smile, laugh and be HAPPY with one another. Oh gods, I so NEED them to have a happy ending. And this series is just so amazing, they really found their footing in season 2, and I just LOVE this so very much.

Today I’m DOING no work! I shall kick back and relax, and then tomorrow I shall go into a frenzy of WORK.

Olympics

1. When Liu Zige won the women's 200m butterfly the Chinese media was completely dumbfounded, they had no idea who she was and spent several hours trying to figure out where she grew up and blah. It was both hilarious and awesome because no one expected it. Oh, happiness.

2. Federer's match against Blake. I don't want to talk about it; I'm still kind of in shock. However, as someone said in much more succinct words; he's Roger Fucking Federer. He'll be fine.

3. Male swimmers and male divers, oh gods, male water sports contestants.

4. The whole brouhaha over the little girl who lip-synched. I’m confused by the outrage, I’m more confused about the Milli Vanilli comparison because dude, no one in Asia cares nor even understands the comparison. Also, as far as I understood it the coordinators for that part admitted on National television that the little girl lip-synched. I’m just really confused by people who keep on harping about it. The Opening Ceremony is a performance, something that should look good so of course they would choose the cuter girl. Please explain to me about the outrage, or is this going to end being a cultural difference thing again.

5. The gymnastics age thing; see, this outrage I can understand. I’m really quite concerned about the girls’ physical health than anything else. However, people really should shut the fuck up about their performance. The girls out-performed the other teams, accept it, and move onto the fact that really matters; their physical health and whether China should be fined/punished/whatever for the lying about their age.

6. I’m REALLY enjoying the Olympics (barring the Tennis because that’s fucking heart-breaking. So, Nadal, GO and WIN this!)

The Australian Olympics uniform was kind of ugly.

Saw Federer and Nadal! EEE! I am happy.

Thought the lighting of the Olympic Torch was suitably over the top and awesome.

Glad to see small nations joining the Olympics.

Did NOT watch the first hour or so.
