Dear Friends,
FanLib.com was founded on the belief that fan creativity is a true art form that deserves a first-rate showcase for cultivation and celebration. Over the course of the past fifteen months, you have triumphantly confirmed this notion with an astonishing display of talent, enthusiasm, imagination and camaraderie.
So, it is especially difficult to announce that FanLib.com will shut down on Monday, August 4, 2008.
Na na na na na na na NAAAAAA!
This has brought a smile to my face despite the cramps, the coughing and the headache. Take that money-hungry dicks, you CANNOT make the profit you were thinking of from what is freely given and produced in fandom, no matter how much you want to. Fanfiction is created out of love/insane obsession/passion and it is FREE.
FanLib gets their ass handed to them by mainstream newsblog. Link from
_leareth.
A funny side to the whole FanLib situation. This entry makes me LOVE fandom with the white hot passion of a thousand burning suns.
I am still bemused by the lack of understanding and respect FanLib has for their major target market. Oh, and still pissed at them.
ETA: Join
life_wo_fanlib; keep up with all the FanLib news. Hell, make it the #1 link to show up on Google when people search for FanLib.

Also, why would I pay, or try and get my main source of entertainment (fanfics) banned because some fucking retard is trying to make a buck from it, and basically disrespecting their own possible future customer, i.e. me. I hope the whole company gets so burned that they will never even think about starting up again.
ETA: The most coherent summary of the whole FanLib deal.
