FanLib gets their ass handed to them by mainstream newsblog. Link from [livejournal.com profile] _leareth.

A funny side to the whole FanLib situation. This entry makes me LOVE fandom with the white hot passion of a thousand burning suns.

I am still bemused by the lack of understanding and respect FanLib has for their major target market. Oh, and still pissed at them.

ETA: Join [livejournal.com profile] life_wo_fanlib; keep up with all the FanLib news. Hell, make it the #1 link to show up on Google when people search for FanLib.

FanLib - An exercise in stupidity

The whole FanLib thing seems really stupid. It strikes me as strange that the CEO and their whole entity is perfectly happy in ignoring the female demographics, making any woman who speaks out against what they are doing sounds stupid and hysterical, when it is the female fans who will be their main customer base. D00D, I have stopped shopping at places, and eating at restaurants for less.

Also, why would I pay, or try and get my main source of entertainment (fanfics) banned because some fucking retard is trying to make a buck from it, and basically disrespecting their own possible future customer, i.e. me. I hope the whole company gets so burned that they will never even think about starting up again.

ETA: The most coherent summary of the whole FanLib deal.

fanfiction

See, this was going to be a long, deep, analytical essay on me defending fanfiction, then I realised there was no point. I like fanfiction, always have, always will. The end.

P.S. However, for a deep, analytical discussion on the topic. Read [livejournal.com profile] worldserpent's post in, uh, answer to Robin Hobb making a, hmm, none-diplomatic rant against fanfiction.

I'm so glad I never liked Robin Hobb much. Hell, I group her with the present-day Anne Rice.

[livejournal.com profile] worldserpent, you probably have already read this but just in case you haven't, Why all Fanfic Writers are Creative Parasites *rolls eyes* See, this is why I don't even bother getting into arguments like this anymore. If people don't get the reason why fans write fanfic or draws fanart there's no point in explaining.

(Actually, is this the guy you were telling me about awhile back? Lee Goldberg?)

[EDIT: He thinks fans are creative parasites with no talent, I think he's a complete dick, but hey let's share the love.]
