Anyway, due to my liking of the film I thought that I might have judged the books a bit too harshly, so off I go to read the book. Well, figures that all the bits I did like in the film were NOT in the book. I always hated how the children were short-changed by Aslan, hell, at the age of 11 I thought it was pretty irritating that a talking animal told a group of children who saved his world that they were NOT allowed to return to Narnia because they were too old. Honestly, shittiest reason ever, and I always felt cheated that Lewis never dealt with the way growing up in Narnia and then returning to our world must have fucked up the children quite a bit.
And let’s not talk about the end of the series; what Lewis did to Susan, yeah, just fucking yeah.
I’m in the process of making my way through the Alex Rider novels. In relation to Stormbreaker - if only they had followed the novel a bit more closely instead of dumbing down the plot, or attempt to make it look ‘cool’. The book was fun and never lost its pace, and the rest of the characters were so much more interesting and less of a caricature like that of the film version.
