Moving on. After a week of much stress, went out yesterday night to eat really expensive pizza (like, $20.00 each, but damn it tasted REALLY good), afterwards went and saw X-Men 2. So, here's my impression of the film; much spoilers, although not exactly in any particular order.
Before ANYTHING, there NEED to be Wolverine/Cyclops SLASH. NEED to be. The comforting, violent sort. I'm serious. Just go and see the film, you'll see. Go.
Colossus and his twenty seconds of screen time made me happy, happy. Hank before his transformation, gods he's cute. Gambit's name; Remy Lebeau on the mutants roster made me all warm and toasty. And Kitty Pryde makes an appearance ^__^
And Damn, Cykes and his choice of muscic. MwahahahaBwahahaha.
Why didn't anyone tell me Peter Wingfield was in it? I kept on thinking of him as Methos, and kept on wondering why the 'old man' was there. Bad x-over idea. Bad.
There powers were underutilised. Sorry, let me re-phrase that, they could've used their powers much more efficiently, and some of the situations they could've gotten out off if they just USED their powers the right way. GRR.
On the otherhand it was the offhand use of mutant powers that made me happy. Like the way one little boy switches channel by blinking, how Bobby can chill a beer with a breath, how the way the children lives from day to day lives. Those made the movie worth watching, and it was much better than ALL the really expensive fight scenes that dragged on way too long.
On some good points; everyone is sexier. So much leather! So much leather!
Wolverine is HOT; much leather, much muscle, much steamy, sexy looks with other sexy, leather-clad people. He smiles, he hate mobile phones, and he's an art teacher ^__^ Oh yeah, he also kill many bad people. But seriously, he and Jean have some serious chemistry. They sort of wrapped up his back story from the first film, and I'm very glad that they left him viscious and practical.
Kelly Hu's character is sexy, and she can kick major arse, sharing the same abilitites as Wolvie. Unfotunately she doesn't say ONE single fucking line throughout the whole film, and they kill her. 'Cos, you know, I guess Asian-brain-washed-chicks just can't be redeemed or get a chance for a sequal, I mean, she's Asian. Yes, that's sarcasm, and yes, I'm rather pissed at that fact.
Mystique is hotter; she's sexier, and she likes her mind games. Me thinks me likes her quite a bit. Although I was slightly thrown by the fact she like Wolverine, she impersonate Jean Grey, and Wolvie is quite confused *snicker*
Nightcrawler is a religious fanatic who's also a bit of a masochist and Storm and he have really FLAT chemistry no matter how hard the directors want to push it. And Storm was rather boring like she was in the last film. Sorry, I just find Halle Berry rather boring in every film she does. I don't like her, she does nothing for me, and I just don't get why there's so much hype surrounding her.
The teenagers were ok, except for Pyro who just annoyed me, and oh, isn't it sad how the two young love birds (Bobby and Rogue) can't do anything naughty, 'cos you know, Rogue would suck him dry, and not in the nice way either. But seriously the film would probably have worked better if they made up an excuse and left Rogue, Bobby and Pyro out of it. They weren't needed, and when they had screen time it felt like filler and a fucking waste of time when they could be showing MORE Wolverine, Jean or better yet, CYCLOPS.
And that leads to my next point; WHERE the FUCK was CYCLOPS?!!? I LIKE Cyclops, and if they can figure out an way to show Xavier with creepy looking guy playing mind games they could have shown Cyclops being brain washed. Grr. However, there was a few good moments near the end; he cries when Jean 'dies' and the way Wolvie and him were 'grieving' ... yummy, and damn I want to read Wolverine/Cyclops slash.
If you haven't gathered yet, Jean dies, apparently she has been having problems with her powers since the last film. She seem to have much more of it that she's have problems controling them. But yeah, she sacrifices her life to save everyone else by stopping the flood from killing everyone. However, WTF she had to LEAVE the plane in order to save them was NEVER explained, and is rather stupid. Of course, I don't believe she's dead, it does however, opens the way for the 'Dark Phoenix' arc to be made into a film. It'll have to be heavily condensed, but damn it would be fun... as long as they don't screw it up too badly, and Cyclops makes more an appearance. But yeah, Dark Phoenix, 'cos well, Dark Phoenix owns, she owns owing.
Overall, the film was ok, not great, but worth watching even if I do feel cheated and bitter, and the whole thing felt sterile. You'll know what I mean when you see it.
And now for a confusing outline of the movie.
The previews LIED! They LIED!! I expected a much better film than the last one, but fucking damn it, the film just didn't get there. Grr. The plot, not exactly ground breaking stuff, have holes big enough to drive a truck through; mutant (Nightcrawler) attack president, mutant fails and then escapes, old geezer who hates mutants talks president into letting him lead an attack on the mansion (plans of which he gets off Magneto through the use of some sort of chemical that was NEVER EXPLAINED in the film), blah, blah.
Wolverine returns after finding an abandoned Lab in the snowy mountains. There's an one line snark b/w Cykes and him, MUCH eye fucking b/w Jean and him, and a really cold handshake with Bobby (Iceman) whose now dating Rogue.
Anywho, Jean and Storm go hunts down Nightcrawler, and Prof X and Cyclops visit Magneto, Wolverine gets to play cheprone and takes care of the kids. Cykes and P-X gets captured while visiting Magneto. It seems old geezer have a son who's a mutant and got really crazy after getting help from Prof X... they didn't explain properly, don't ask me. Old geezer (Stryker) want to user Cerebro to kill ALL mutants in the world, blah, blah.
Anyways, mansion gets attacked; Stryker knows Wolvie, apprrently they use to be in the same line of job. Some children get captured, most escapes, Rogue, Bobby, Pyro and Wolvie runs. And to make a REALLY long story short, they run from the law, join together with Jean and Storm, and the semi-bad guys; Magneto and Mystique, the former having escaped with the latter's help. They rescue people, much fighting, blah, blah, Kelly Hu's character dies fighting Wolvie, without saying one thing thru the whole film. Apparently she was brain washed, but who knows. Oh yeah, old geezer's son is alive, but vegetable-ish and mind fucks Prof X, so Prof X would use his shiny, psychic power to kill OFF all mutants. He almost did, but Magneto screws it up and instead manipulates the old prof into trying to kill ALL humans in earth. He alsmot did, but Stormy and Nightcrawler saves the day (he was also brain-washed). Except it's not that easy; flood happens and Jean saves everyone by sacrifising herself (will not go into detail, go and watch it, and you tell me how stupid it was, and how it did NOT make any sense at all).
I've more things to say about the film, but I'm rather sick of typing, so, go and watch the film at least once, and maybe I'll type up some more info about the movie tomorrow.
