spooks season 3

naanima: ([Spooks] Quinn is thinking)
So, watched Spooks season 1 and 3, I’m going straight to season 3 babble (will babble about season 1 at a later date).

The good
1. Danny – becoming such a wonderful human being. The writers did an awesome job of making me love him in the time span of 8 episodes; his feelings for Zoe, his battle over doing what is right and what is wrong and choosing to do the difficult because he had a duty. And when he died (I think I truly hate the Spooks writer-team at times) I cried my eyes out, despite the fact that Danny did the brave thing, again.

2. Zoe – Zoe, Zoe, Zoe, how I went from thinking you incompetent to been truly wonderful at your job, even in your final monumental fuck-up, because you chose your conscience over your job, and well, how can I dislike you for making the morally-right decision as that of Tom. When she got her happy ending I was squeeing very hard.

3. Harry and Ruth! FOREVER! OTP! They are so good together and apart. Just have so much love for them. Ruth, the BESTEST person at her job, HARRY! His truly awful sense of humour! *HUGS*.

4. The bigger budget – I’m pretty sure their budget has increased, this not just judged on their wardrobe either, the special effects, the varied (different) settings! I am happy for the extra budget, for things looks really awesome now.

5. Adam Carter and Fiona Carter – I really like the two of them, though I admit Adam is a bit of an enigma because I still can’t pin him down properly in the characterisation department. I am curious about him but I just don’t know if I like him yet. (Though I was very happy with him when he locked himself in the bathroom, crying his eyes out and attempting to look himself in the mirror after Danny’s death. That was impressive.) I do, however, love Fiona, and I have no idea why, well no rational explanation beyond the fact that she has a working marriage with a fellow spook, and that Fiona is not her real name. I just really like her!

The bad
1. The stupidly huge amount of guns present in season 3, more than the 2 previous seasons combined. I don’t know if I like that touch, Spooks was so much more interesting when guns were been kept at a minimal because they were such a big threat when they did appear. The complete ease at which they are been used in season 3 makes me cringe, and I really can’t explain why. I have this horrible feeling that the guns are just the beginning of big changes with Spooks in the future and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it.

The indifferent
1. The lack of Tom, this is more surprising to me than anything else. I blame the sneaky writers who made me fall in love with Zoe, Danny, Ruth and Harry than much more. I do miss him, I just felt that Tom wasn’t needed for the season, though I admit to missing him so damn much when Zoe left, and Danny was killed.

RL: Once again, I am sick. My mum is getting slightly worried about my lack of an immune system.
