Supernatural: 206-209

Finally caught up with the rest of Supernatural, um, I think I’m in the unpopular fandom opinion for about 50% of the episodes.

No Exit: I like it. Unlike most of the fandom I didn’t feel the lack of Sam, in fact if fandom hadn’t made such a big deal out of it I wouldn’t have even noticed his absence. I really like this episode, from the serial killer to finding out more about Ellen and Jo, to the little bits of Dean-insight that is revealed.

Jo is young and lacks experience, however, if she ever gets over her father’s death she’ll be a hunter to be reckoned with. I loved her interaction with Dean, and while the vibes were more sibling-like I can see the possibility of a romantic relationship. Dean was more truthful to her than he has ever been with anyone else, and in return, Jo trusted him. It is just that there is such a sense of respect between them that it pushes all my het!buttons.

Usual Suspects: My reaction = meh. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that the Winchesters are so slick with their back-up plans, and loved Dean and Sam’s different ways in dealing with the law. I’m especially fond of Sam going all Keyser Söze on Linda Blair, because that is really hot (on a side note, I LOVE Sam’s hair when it is pulled back from his forehead). However, overall the episode just didn’t do anything for me, it had a hell of lots going for it but it just didn’t click together to make a real impression.

Crossroad Blues: Hmm. The demon chick is hot, once again, the episode just didn’t do much for me. Sure, I fall before the Dean-angst but plot and story wise, the episode just didn’t do much for me. I suspect it is the lack of any personal knowledge about the Blues or Robert Johnson. Though I did love the bits about Voodoo stuff. I wish the show would do a darker episode about Voodoo.

I went nuts over the preview at the end of this episode, it was a full on fangirl GLEE moment.

Croatoan: Finally, another episode I like. I like zombies, always have, always will, thus, even though the infected people in this episode were not zombies in the technical sense I was bound to like it. Furthermore, I went through a phase in High School where I researched about mass disappearance (tribes, cities and nations) in the time span of a night, so, double the happiness for me!

Dean is all kind of awesome in this episode, and I honestly don’t see any moral issue about the kills Dean made during this episode.

The first guy that Dean shot was coming at him with a knife – can be easily seen as self-defense. A friend of mine does amateur shooting, and on several occasions, she told me that most people who learn how to shoot have been taught to aim for the torso of a target. It is the easiest area to hit on a body, and will often slow them down, so, that’s pretty much how I saw the whole shooting without reaction from Dean.

Dean only shot the mother after he got confirmation about her status of being an infected member from 2 people, one of whom is his own brother – the one person he has left who he trusts with his life, and the other a doctor who is 100% positive the mother is infected. In addition, this was after he tried to leave the town and was attacked by several infected townies. The fact that he found an abandoned car with blood all over it all leads to the conclusion that the infected are dangerous and will kill… and let’s not forget Sarge’s comment about the infected being highly dangerous. The remaining shooting is pretty self-explanatory.

I’m not even going to talk about the whole scene between Dean and Sam, everything (all good) I want to say about the scene has already been said. So, SQUEE!

Overall, I liked the episode, but I do wish Kripke could have told us the secret now rather than in January. I just think the episode could have been much more powerful if it had told us the secret and left the last scene a Sam’s facial reaction (whatever it may be) to the secret. So, good episode, not the best, but good.

I wish it was January already.
