Much more coherent now. So, summary and thoughts.
So, DN 36. Rem has given the Death Note to another person. The deal: continue to kill until Misa is released at which point the person can keep the DN. You gotta love Rem, willing to do so much for Misa. Anyway, day 50 of Yagami (voluntary) and Raito's imprisonment. Raito's hair is longer and his eyes aren't those of a sociopathic killer anymore, and convinced that he's innocent.
At this point we have L and his amazing plan, which he tells Yagami leaving the poor chief with a horrified/stunned expression. So, Misa and Raito are released and given a ride by Yagami. At this point any intelligent person should be downright suspicious. Misa is obviously happy, Raito is wary (good boy), and then Yagami explains that he is taking the two of them to be executed.
Yeah, me too.
Anyways, Raito is like o_0 and Misa is all 'WAHHH' there's the desperate pleas to reason and such, which Yagami ignores, and continues to say that he's going to kill Misa and Raito and then shoot himself. At this point I'm bitting my nails and was ready to start screaming despite the fact that my mum was already asleep. So, pleading, and Raito saying let's run away and catch Kira themselves (so sweet), but Yagami refuses to listen and pulls out a gun.
Trigger is pulled. There's smoke, then we see Raito with the most frightened expression on his face. EVER. Yagami slumps over the steering wheel relieved. Yes, it was all a SETUP! L have been watching the whole proceeding in his hotel room via a mini camera in the car. Conclusion: L now believes that Raito and Misa re completely innocent, asks for Raito's assistance in hunting down Kira, which Raito happily agrees to.
At this point I have NO idea how they are going to resolve Raito is/was Kira thing. I still can't believe that L has given up on his suspsicons even though all evidence says otherwise. The problem with Raito at the present time is that for ALL purpose he is INNOCENT! No memories of his crimes, and the firm belief that he would never do such a thing. Which leads to the interesting question of just how much of Raito's nutcase tendencies were because of the DN's influence, and how much of it was Raito himself.
This issue throws a lots of my presumptions about Raito out of the window, which just proves that I'm fell under the 'Presumptions and assumptions makes an ass out of you'. But the bottom line is 'NOW WHAT?' There's a new player with the DN. How is Raito going to get his memories and DN back? And, even if he does get the DN back, will Raito still be that sociopathic? Oh, and of course, just what sort of counter-attack will L make?
This series make me think!
