Still alive. Just feeling very tired and sluggish. RL aside, have watched/read much anime/manga.
Also, was slightly worried at my own mental health when, at 2am in the morning, I couldn't decide whether the things I remember of FMA was actually cannon or from really good fanfics. I could have sworn certain events occurred in Ed and Al's childhood, but on re-watching a few eps. I have come to the conclusion that it was just me. This make me strangely happy.
Finally saw ep. 25 of FMA. There's really no reason to say anything else. However, since I need to rant, I shall. I love Hughes, I LOVE the man, and if
ravenwoodiii is no longer writing her AU of 'not-so-life-threatening-wound' I'm going to be crushed. Utterly crushed.
I cried. At first I was only in pain, but when Alicia started to cry, and Roy spoke of his want to practice human transmutation, and then saying it was raining. Oh gods *cries*
Damn, this episode shows the viewer just how ruthless and dangerous Hughes can be. Cutting Envy's throat like that (was so HAPPY, DIE! DIE!), and embedding the dagger in Lust's head. I love men that are competent.
Moreover, I HATE Envy. I want him to die a horrible, painful, and long death. So far I haven't seen one redeeming feature for the little twerp. Not one. Hell, he's not even physically appealing in any way or form. I want him to DIE. The way he toyed with Hughes at the end... NOT fucking forgivable. Die! DIE! You little piece of turd. DIE! I think I hate him more than I hate Akito.
Gokusen (both anime and manga) by Morimoto Kozueko. It's the story of Yamaguchi Kumiko, a woman who dreams of becoming the type of teacher who can make a difference in the lives of her students by being understanding, caring, etc.
Alas, in the great tradition of GTO, Kumiko's first job ends up at Shirokin Fakuin Senior High School, a school known by its infamous reputation. Therefore, it is up to Kumiko to gain the trust of the students (who are real delinquents).
See, if that was the only thing going for the series I really wouldn't be that interested. What make Gokusen so awesome is the fact that Kumiko is in fact the granddaughter of a Yakuza boss, and has been surrounded, and trained by really scary men (who are more scared of her at present time) since she was very young. So, you can imagine just how frightening and kick arse she can be.
The series is pretty much about Kumiko's attempt to gain the trust of her class, and help each one of them in her own way, and all the while attempting to hide her real identity so she won't be fired form her teaching job. What makes her cool, beside her kick arse abilities, is the fact that Kumiko, unlike many lead characters, is very aware of what's going on around her.
I want to be her. Most of the characters are very endearing, and I'm in love with the ending of the anime. Very 40's/50's Japanese old film style.
I also rec Kimi wa Pet by Yayoi Ogawa. Successful career woman Iwaya, after being dumped by her boyfriend of many years, find a young boy in the dumpster one night, and ends up keeping the boy (Iwaya name him after her pet dog, Momo) as a pet. Yes, a pet. No, not in the sex sort of way, though I wish they just did it.
The series is funny, and at times painful, because well... Iwaya's character feels very familiar. She' successful, she's a perfectionist, she works her arse off for it, and it is because of these things that causes her problems. Just go and read it.
