I WANT to SEE THIS!!! Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?! BakuRyuu Sentai Abarenjaa just sound (and looks) too cool. I -really- want to see this. The costumes!! There are colour coded uniforms, imperial/kimono style robes, stupid rubber monsters, overdone melodrama, the semi-attractive actors (attractive in the 'kicked puppy' sense), and the STORYLINE!! OMG, the stroyline. It has DINOSAURS!!!

*jumps up and down*

Okay, I admit, it's so cheesy that I can survive on it for several months, but I DON'T care!! Teh Cheese makes it good. Yes, it does. Worship Teh Cheese!

Yes, I'm a geek.

...............................................

Saw several movies in the past few days, here are my mini-reviews.

Charlies' Angels: What I expected. Eye candy abound. Found the Dylan/ThinMan terribly amusing.

The Ring: Suitably creepy, and quite disturbing with a few of the themes. Can see why it was so popular.

EQUILIBRIUM: Love the concept. There aren't many movies were people goes around calling each other 'Cleric' where the captial 'C' can be heard. GunKata is just too cool of an idea. The fact that they attempted to give it wacked scientific backing is great.

What surprised me was that the film was actually quite intelligent. I mean it. I think I can write several essays on this film that includes; the impact of post-modernism on society, the improvement of science, the way of Zen, war, and the human identity. Although I wish they had a better budget, and a better choreographer when it came to a few of the fight scenes.

Christian Bale, as always, is terrific, and having Sean Bean in the film was a wonderful bonus.

Eight Legged Freaks: It is a hoot. Laughed all the way through. Although I can safely say that spiders creep me out.

It is such a funny, funny film. One of the few thriller/horror films were I was nodding my head at the characters' actions. Yes, going to the hardware store is smart ^_^

Ohhh, Japanese Horror. Me want to watch. I only watched the American version of 'The Ring'. I'm sure ak, or someone else will be perfectly happy with hosting a horror night.

hehe, I should get all the asian horror films that are out. I always think asian horror is scarier than western horror. :P And hey, we can top off the night with Scary Movie or something... I know its lame but I always wanted to watch it :P

Re: Lost your last shred of sanity!
Shut up. I can't help it. Just go and watch 'Equilibrium' then you'll understand.

Bribery... hmm, hmmm, male characters in horror films wearing tight leather pants?

Really? I've always found Western horros to be more scary than Eastern horror. Asian Horror films have always made me laugh and laugh. Hmm, maybe it's just the growing up with watching Freddy and Tales of the Crypt that have scarred me for life.

OHHHHHHH I want to watch Scare Movie too, that and the second one ^_^

The ring you say ..
Was it the american one or the original.

I haven't seen the original, but I found the american one rather a let down at the end. It was full of typical shock scenes etc but I walked away from the end of that thinking

".. and the point of all that was???"

I dunno, maybe I'm missing the point of horror movies :P

Re: The ring you say ..
I saw the American one. Overall, the ending was definitely a let down, it was more the little girl being the source of all evil that creeped me out. And when she was climbing out of the well, and out of the TV screen... *shudders* I get creeped out by horror films really easily.

But definitely, there was no point to the whole thing. I expected an ending with an explanaiton. All I got was half sentences, a lots of implicit explanations, and unsatisfaction at the ending. However, I can see why it was such a big hit with most people. I just don't agree with them ^_^

The point of horror movies is to be scared by them, if that fails then laughing at the really silly bits is acceptable ^^

Re: The ring you say ..
I haven't seen the American one, but I've seen the Japanese one. And from what I saw of the trailors of the American version, it got mangled. See the Japanese - it's almost a different story, and it's much better. (And explains things better at the end, I would imagine, judging by your response.)

Re: The ring you say ..
I'm thinking that's probly a very good idea. The lack of explaination really annoyed me.

Very belated comment. ^^ I had this on my memories to comment on at a later date during the time I couldn't use my PC. Equilibrium rocked my world. I watched it in the theaters when it showed if only because of the GunKata, and while I was expecting a bad movie and some cool gun fights, it really was a surprisingly good watch.

Is okay, belated comments are welcome. I missed it at the cinemas (which really peeved me), but yeah, the only reason I originally wanted to see it was b'cos of the GunKata and Christian Bale, but the movie turned out to be surprisingly good.
