I like the episode, there was much squee and moments of glee.

So, old English-style hotel about to be sold and creepy ass dolls - I can see where this is going a mile away. Haunted house! So, Rose had an older sister who died at an indeterminate time (though it seems she was very young), however, Maggie (the dead sister) can't leave her younger sister and comes back from the grave to get to her. Except Rose knows some hoodoo, learnt from her nanny, and has been keeping Maggie away for decades - until she suffered from a stroke, and now the ghost is back.

The moments of squee:
- Sam not angsting about Ava.
- Dean poking fun at Sam's angsting ways.
- The two being mistaken for a gay couple - "antiquing" is new ghei?
- The creepy, creepy, creepy dolls.
- Some of the camera angles used - classic horror, so much love.
- Rose and Maggie being a very loose allegory to Sam and Dean. I just don't see ever being able to do that to Sam.
- Being canon that Dean doe snot get drunk on cases - it is unprofessional. This made me really happy.
- Sam getting smashed.
- Dean calling John an ass - justifiable anger, have being waiting for this for a very long time, and Sam's reaction to it is just equally priceless.
- Sam grabbing Dean's face. Um, yeah.
- The PROMISE: Sam, Sam, Sam - I love you so very much, and it stuns me just how terrified you must be to ask Dean to kill you if you turn evil. I'm actually of two minds on whether Dean can do it or not. I'd love to proclaim that Dean would never kill Sam, but there's something niggling in the back of my mind.
- Sam and Dean!
- Sam's fucking awesome jump into the pool.
- The PROMISE! EEEE!
- Also, MILF!

Overall, I like.

ETA:OMFG! I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING. AHAHAHAHAHA!

So, Supernatural In The Park. It makes so much sense now, Supernatural is like South Park. AHAHAHAHAHA! I'll never be able to watch IMToD without laughing like a maniac now. This is so much cooler than the Supernatural does Star Wars clip.

Oh ditto on the creepy dolls! Gah!

As for the Shining references--plenty of DePalma all the way around. I was expected one of the girls to start muttering Reeeed Ruuuuuuum....

Seriously, rent the Jack Nicolson version. STAY AWAY FROM THE TV MINI-SERIES. It sucks more ass than the horsefucker >.

HATE dolls. Chucky scarred me for life.

I caught the room number reference, the bar reference (I remember seeing the scene), and my boyfriend had to explain RedRum to me.

Will rent it - hopefully it'll be on DVDs, and don't worry no mini-series for me.

(pst - Playthings was 2x11)

Dean promised to kill him if he ever turned into something he wasn't. Since Sam will never turn evil (Dean won't let him), Dean will never have to make good on that promise.

Long reply - this really should be meta
Has been changed. I just want to see the next episode RIGHT now! *pouts*

Dean promised to kill him if he ever turned into something he wasn't. Since Sam will never turn evil (Dean won't let him), Dean will never have to make good on that promise.

See, that's where I'm starting to worry - Sam is doing the right thing for the wrong reason. It is not about saving others to save yourself, it is about saving others because you can and it is the right thing to do. Seeing Sam in the episode was painful - John Winchester, closest thing to a god to his sons, believed with his last breath that Sam was going to turn evil. That must have hurt on so many levels for Sam (let's not even talk about the terror), and I think that fear is going to fuck up Sam's abilitites to make the right decisions. The only thing that would hold Sam back from really fucking things up is Dean.

And it is at this point where my brain goes to bad, bad places - why the fuck hasn't the Demon gotten rid of Dean yet? Pre-DT I can believe that the Demon didn't think Dean was worth the effort (hell, in fact I'd think the Demon liked Dean because Dean was keeping Sammy save for whatever he has planned for the boy.) But post-DT, when the Demon has realised just how important, how much influence Dean has over his family (Sam didn't shoot John, and John exchanged his life and the colt), why the hell has he not killed Dean yet? And because my brain like cause and effect I can only conclude that Dean needs to die for the furthering of the Demon's plan. See, this is when it gets messy - if Dean dies, Sam will turn Dark side, no question about it. It is
not because Sam will kill innocents but because Sam will stop caring enough about the innocents to save them, because vengeance will be the most important thing to him. Doing nothing when knowing is almost as bad as helping a killer pull the trigger.

In the back of my head, I'm trying to figure out where this season is heading towards to, and it is slowly pulling together something that I want to see, something that will satisfy me. I want Kripke and his team to explain the point of the women on the ceilings with their stomachs cut open (anti-blessing?). So far the demon has told us they died because they were in the way, and the only reason I can see them being in the way is because they loved their children so much that this love would have made their children well adjusted individuals rather than fucked up killers (Max and evil twin). With their mother’s influence, the children could have never willingly helped the Demon bring hell to earth, or whatever he has planned for them. So, the next logical step – I want to see Kripke et al. admit that Dean is in the way of Sam turning evil, I want to see the Demon acknowledge it, I want to see Dean Winchester pinned up to the ceiling with a cut on his stomach.

Then, I want the season to end.

Of course, realistically (plot point wise), it is something that’s more likely to happen as a season 3 finale. For season 2 finale I want to see Sam turn evil ^__^V
