why the big fuss?

Finally heard Norah Jones sing a song.

Question, what is the big fuss? As far as I can tell she sounds like about 90% of the female singers that does similar music. Even her tunes and her lyrics are pretty ordinary. In fact, I'd say Brittney Spears have one over her, at least with Spear's songs you can hum along (even if they tend to get annoying).

Maybe I'm just not educated enough in music. I'm sure there's something really ground breaking about her music. However, I seem to be too blind to see.

Hey, I happen to ...
... like Norah Jones' singing voice :P

It's not that she's unique or anything. Just sultry smooth blues kinda tunes good on certain occassions/moods.

But I seriously don't think BS has anything over her and I'm the pop critic.

Re: Hey, I happen to ...
I'm not a pop critic, and I usually like things that I have a beat and that I can hum too.

Beside, Jones' music make me want to grind my teeth and take a chainsaw to her. And that is bad.

Chainsaw?
Hmmm interesting. Not sure how well she'll sing under strenuous circumstances like that tho.

I like Norah Jones.

Imho, there are far better jazz/blues musicians than her, but I like the fact that she's there because she's introducing blues and jazz into a market that's dominated by candy pop, rap and doof doof music, which to me, are of little to no interest. It's not so much that she's "ground breaking", so much as she's making an old genre more accessable to the general public.

And I respect anyone who can sing and play piano at the same time. Again there are lots of people that can, but it doesn't make me respect her any less. She's one up on Britney that she can perform live and play her own instruments. Are my values fucked up? Probably.

I see.

But I still don't find her special, and I still find her voice grating *sticks tongue out and runs away before she gets skewerred by Amei*

I now sweetie, but I must tease and give you as much hassle as possible ^^. This is just another great divide in our love.

And before I click on the link, is it anything that I need to be weary of since I'm using the Uni computers, and they monitor these like they are Fort Nox.

Humour bridges gaps in love. As does this one.

Worksafe, though people might stare at you for suddenly cacking yourself @ the computer.
