Tian Lung Ba Bu

So, I have been watching the newest remake of Tian Lung Ba Bu with the parents (not the '96 version, the 2002-2003 version, the one with Jimmy Lin). I have to say I like. Sure, some of the characters are not as uh, lively (sneaky, sneaky, sneaky) as they should be but by the gods China is finally getting the integration of CG into WuXia series right. It makes me cry tears of joy when I see certain moves done -right- and not tacky. Add the choreographed fight scenes, the wonderful, beautiful fight scenes and I'm happy. Pure bliss.

I like Jimmy Lin as Duan Yu. The fact that Duan Yu is my favourite character makes everything that much better. I never liked Xiao Feng (I still don't) too mule headed, too stuck in his ways but I have to say Hu Jun's Xiao Feng is much more endearing. At least now I can respect the man for his 'hero-like' characteristics rather than leave the room when it is all about him. Honour really isn't all it cracks out to be.

Now I'll shut up. Need food.

One question, why is Tian Lung Ba Bu translated as Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils in English? My Chinese may suck but it doesn’t suck that much.
