Jailbait shounen heroes

I've known this for a very long time, but still, it's rather disheartening to realise that over 90% of the shounen heroes that one goes crazy over are JAILBAITS. Yes, jailbaits, underage and sexy. There's something wrong in that. I feel old. And slightly distrubed.

So, to the female fans who are over 18 (I'm living in Australia here, and age of consent for everything is 18), just think carefully of all the anime/manga heroes that you fangirl about. It's actually quite amazing just how many of them are underage.

Hmm, it probably says something about me that I don't feel too bad about them being underage. It's the fact that I'm older than them that's quite gulling.

You represent... apathy.
You represent... apathy.
You don't really show any emotion. You can be
considered cruel and cold, but you just don't
really care about anything. This is just the
way you are... you're quite a challenge to get
close to, and others may perceive you as
boring.

What feeling do you represent?

Hmm. Cool pic. What can I say? I'm a sheep.

Yes, saaaad, isn't it? Probably because shounen manga is aimed at young boys, but still. >_> I feel so old. I console myself with the thought that hey, at least Renji isn't jailbait! And maaaan, did I get dropkicked off the cliff of Renji fangirling. >_>;;

Quite. But at least we have our older bishounens in manga series to keep us relatively happy.... sometime. Also, the way I see it Hao isn't young. Technically he's over 1000-yrs-old, and as far as I'm concerned just too damn sexy to be 15.

As you can tell, so in denial here.

Why would you get dropkicked for fangirling Renji? (unless I'm thinking of the wrong person here. Clearify).

Clarify. Not clearify. I so need sleep.

And in some cases, even the 'older' bish are pretty young... It's not Hao's fault he's a 1000 year old in a 15 year old's body. <3 Denial is good.

I didn't get drop kicked FOR fangirling. I was referring to my er, fangirling process? and how it resembled me getting drop kicked off a cliff. One moment, not all that interested, the next, AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH *splat* XD;;;

The older ones are indeed young. 18 to beign with and maybe 20 or 21 at the end of the series. Damn them! I'm already 21 this year and they're gonna be 18 for the rest of their lives. Bastards *sigh* but they are so pretty.

Exactly, Hao is so not jailbait, he is old, he is wise, he is probably half insane. Denial is indeed good.

*laughs* Ah, the fangirling process. Beware, the impact is always painful. I do know what you mean. Although, I suppose I can be happy in the knowledge that I only have two underaged shounen heroes on my top 10 fave anime/manga men. But still.

Yay Hao and Renji and not jailbait :D :D :D

Oh hell, what am I talking about?! I'm only 15! I'm free to like which ever character I choose! Harharhar!!! *gets beated by a sack of potatoes*

You dare mock your elders, young one? *disapproving stare* Never fear, for one day, you too will join us... *hides sack of bricks behind back*

*cackles over Renji's un-jailbaitness since she's not a Hao fangirl and thus does not need denial* XD

ahhh sorry sorry.

but shouldn't yoh, hao and all the others be 18? Yoh's born on 1985... and the others are just a few months/one year difference. Of course then there's the fact that time in the manga has only been two year (I think).

Renji in my opinion looks... I don't know... early 20s? Rukia looks young though (well she's short)

But that's not news to me!
I think when I hit college, I knew I was seriously going to hell when I realised that a large proportion of all the Shonen Jump heroes were 14, and occasionally below, never mind the 500 year old monkeys and vampires and pyschic demon half-breeds and immortal drug addicts and cyborgs and...and...nevermind. But they all claim to be able to pass for 14.

Personally, I've justified it being that I'm perfectly aware that I'm obsessing over unreal people, and these unreal people, much like some real thirty year old actors/actresses, magically stop ageing when they feel like it and they actually do. Whereupon I chucked morality out of the window of a very tall building and went to read more manga.
