Kino no tabi ~ Beautiful World ~

The task of studying for my psych exams are becoming more and more stressful. I don't know half of this crap.

The premise of the story is rather simple, a boy named Kino goes on an adventure with his pet motor cycle who talks to him. Yes, the motor bike talks and it's name is Elmse. The anime seem to be composed of a series of short stories, with -very- little hints of an overarching backstory beside the adventures of Kino and Elmes.

So far, the two companions have encountered a city where a girl recited a poetry that brings sadness everyday, a city trying to finds it's own tradition, a city populated by machinary as it's dwindling population avoid each other in fear of reading each other's mind, a city living by prophecies written in a book, and human slavers who have hearts, and a city dedicated to the building of a tower.

The series is fascinating and leave me wanting more. It have depth, I mean the philosophical, existansialism sort of depth that is expressed in a simple and often understated way. Beside, Kino is COOL, like really cool. He cooks, he shoots and he does kill. The boy is also fully packed when it comes to weaponary; three guns, one of which is a hidden, and as he said himself he carry knives all over his body. He carries a lots of knives. And well, I suspect Kino isn't all there. The boy seem to have several psychological illness. I mean it.

I -really- like this series.

I feel so vindicated. I've been drooling over the artbook in Kino for AGES, which is not MINE soley because I haven't seen a paycheque since I came back from Perth. I was already fascinated with Kino no Tabi ever since I picked up the shitajiki last year.

Must put it on list of anime/manga to collect, beg, borrow or steal. ^_^

I have to say it's worth watching ^__^

As the fansubbers haven't subbed an ep of the series in several months I don't have much hope of seeing them released online. And if the rest of the series still isn't out by the end of the year I'm gonn attempt to get the whole series on DVD.

Hmm, when's the next care package that's gonna be mailed to you? (Wendy does mail you things on the odd occassion, right?) I can burn a copy of the first four eps for you (unfortunately that's all I have).

*nods nods* agree agree, Kino no Tabi is one of the most beautiful and rich series ever. It's made from novel by Keiichi Shiguresawa, and I think the novel is even better.
BTW, I think Kino is a she, not a he.
