Doctor Who - 309; The Family of Blood.

Because I have seen him. He's like fire and ice, and rage. He's like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe.

And he's wonderful.

Martha Jones - you are awesome. Family holds a gun to your head, you get the gun off them and hold the ALIEN as hostage. You are damn proud of your profession, and can name all the bones of the hand (I assume). You love the Doctor "to bits", and you have come to peace with the fact that he does not, can not, see you in the same way.

Joan is amazing, she fell in love with John Smith, and the he sacrificed his life so that another man could live and safe the day (John is not the Doctor). And she said no no to the Doctor for all the right reasons; the man she love is dead, he can't be what she loved. The Doctor could not, would not become something less for love, he had learned that lesson well. All he can be is what he is; Last of the Time Lords.

The Doctor; when Joan asked him whether people would have died if he had not chosen this little town on a 'whim' - like a punch to the stomach. He's so alone, so powerful, he's - he's wonderful.

Tim; by the gods I love the boy. That sense of maturity and wisdom in one so young, I wonder how difficult it was to find a young actor such as him. The way he spoke; so much maturity and wisdom is just amazing. The way he delivered the quote (above) to describe the Doctor sent shivers down my back, and yet, "And he's wonderful" was delivered with so much wonder, like a child discovering that the world.

Also, the whole montage with the following voice-over:

Son of Mine: He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing. 'The fury of the Time Lord' and then we discovered why, why this Doctor who had fought with gods and demons, why he run away from us and hidden? He was being kind! He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains forged in the heart of a dwarf star. He tripped my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy to be imprisoned there, forever. He still visits my sister, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her, but there she is. Can you see? He trapped her inside a mirror. Every mirror! If ever you look at your reflection and see something move behind you just for a second, that's her. That's always her! As for me, I was suspended in time and the Doctor put me to work standing over the fields of England as their protecter. We wanted to live forever so the Doctor made sure we did.

Awesome.

I LOVE THIS SHOW, and I'm NOT afraid to admit that I CRIED LIKE A BABY!

the quotes gave me shivers. and i am curious now. is the family a recurring entity, or is this a one-off ep? because if it is the latter, i might snag that off you.

otoh, even if it was the former, i'm sure i can depend on you for an exposition of the series. =P

The series is beautiful and frightening, it can be heart-breaking and such a joy, and it makes me want to believe.

The Family seem to be a one off (so far), at least it is for the new series (2005), and since I have not seen any of the older Doctor Who I really can't say. Yes, you may snag them off me.

I can provide you an exposition! But only on the new series, I recommend that you watch all the new series, you don't have to, but there's so much nuances that you will not get (Rose, oh Rose).

OH FINE I CRIED AT THE END THAT LAST SCENE WAS AWESOME but then that poem is guarenteed to make me cry most of the time anyway. And I got a bit misty during the John Smith stuff with the watch and Tim. But. KAJDNGKJSDNG OMGOMGOMG I LOVE THAT DESCRIPTION SO HARD

The poem/description is awesome, and so damn accurate. The John Smith bits breaks my heart, oh gods, to die so that some God-like character can live, that has got to suck so very much.

He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe.

And The fury of the Time Lord - OMFG! THIS SHOW! THIS SHOW IS SO AWESOME!

Yeah. I, uh. I think I might start doing a 10 things I love or recap-style post for Doctor Who, much like Ignipes or Refur are doing for SPN. But I don't want to step on any toes. Do you know if anyone is doing anything like that in fandom at the moment?

(Also, if there's a doctor who newsletter like spnnewsletter, fess up ;P)

I don't think anyone is doing a 10 things in Doctor Who fandom, but mind you I'm not that deeply involved in the Doctor Who fandom, I'm more, um, stalker of individual el-jays. *KOFFS*.

(As for communities - [livejournal.com profile] who_daily seems to be official DW newsletter in the fandom, and [livejournal.com profile] dwfiction is somewhere I like to bum around in. Like I said, more of a stalker of individual el-jays then actual fandom groups).
