SPN 305 – Bedtime Stories

This was a solid episode all over; nothing spectacular but nothing bad, it was a case file, and overall it was rather, um, dull, not saying it is a bad episode; it is just that it didn’t fill me with squee. However, there were moments of pure gem, Dean and Sam fighting with each other over the same thing over and over again just do wonderful things for me. I love how the show doesn’t ignore BIG character changing issues; in fact it is always there, even when in crack filled episode.

I have never realised this but Jared-as-Sam has been using his body as a way to threaten and intimidate more in the last 5 episodes of Supernatural than he has all 2 previous seasons combined. Re-watching 303 I was amazed by how Sam goes from looming Hunter to little meek brother in one single scene, how he seem to go from larger than life to small little boy, and it isn’t as if he has shrunk, it is just that he does something with his body language that makes him appear harmless and let people forget just how big he really it. I LOVE him to little bits.

All the understated angst between Sam and Dean; the way Dean didn’t say anything when Sam shouted out about letting him go, the way Dean walked away, Sam looking on, alone. The way Sam watched Dean sleep, taking in, storing everything about Dean because it may have potentially been the last time he gets to see his brother. LOVES!

Sam and the Crossroads Demon – wow. What Sam can be – killing someone because they pissed him off; cold, efficient, and ruthless. Mind you, Sam, to me, has always been the most ruthless Winchester; it takes someone very special, ruthless and a dose of selfishness to abandon his family so wholly, and to build a life he wants with no looking back. And let’s not forget Sam saving Dean in ‘Faith’. So yes, I wasn’t surprised so much as I was shocked by how little reaction Sam seems to have for shooting the Demon.

Also, Dean’s soul is important, so important that there’s a higher player involved with the deal. Ohhh, this is getting interesting. I love twists.

And Sandy McCoy is hot, I love how she took on all the mannerism and the speaking pattern of the previous Crossroad Demon – very well done.

I have got more to say, but I'll have to think about it a bit more.
