OMFG! OMFG! OMFG!
I'LL BE MORE COHERENT, LATER. REALLY. MAYBE.
OMFG! OMFG! OMFG!
SUPERNATURAL, I FORGIVE YOU FOR THE LAST 2 EPISODES, YOU ARE BRILLIANT AND BEAUTIFUL, AND MY RAY OF SUNSHINE IN LIFE! OMFG!
I was spoiled for this episode, which is actually worse, because I was at the edge of my seat for the first half of the episode trying to figure out when Dean would die. I was traumatised the first time, laughed like an idiot the rest of the times, and was utterly gutted when Dean was shot down by Kyle.
Terminator!Sammy was freaky, I did not find him remotely sexy or attractive. What made him Sam was removed and it felt like watching a shell, which is probably what they were aiming for, but I am still fairly freaked out by the whole thing. I do, however, feel fucking vindicated at those people who kept on bad mouthing Sam by saying he didn't love/care about Dean; this episode proved beyond a doubt that Sam loves Dean beyond reason.
The ways that Sam is like John is all sorts of awesome, though I think John never reached that point of despair because he had Sam and Dean to anchor him. Sam had no one, and it fucking hurt to see him begging the Trickster to return Dean, just absolutely fucking gutted.
Now I want to talk about the Trickster in this episode; I love the fact that other forces are taking notice of the coming war, that it is big enough, dangerous enough that the gods are starting to take an interest in the big players. The Trickster god, a being that is highly concerned with upholding balance, is taking a special interest in how Sam handles the death of Dean. See, Sam is going to be a big player in the coming war, and from the way the YED focused so much on Sammy, our boy probably has some very special abilities. If Dean dies and goes to hell Sam will raze the world to the ground and tear the gates of hell, because Sam loves Dean and Sam won't let go.
You do not want someone like that as the leader of Hell; powers beyond measure, an army of demons, and enough cold rage and despair to burn the world to dust. Or at the very least the Trickster doesn't want that, the Trickster like the world as it is, and Sam would only unbalance that order, hence an attempt to teach Sam a lesson. Yes, Dean is Sam's weakness, that sometime you need to let go, to move on, or you are consumed by grief, despair and hate. Except, well, except I think the Trickster missed something fundamental, yes, Dean is Sam's weakness but he is also Sam's strength. Without Dean Sam's life is lifeless; Dean ground Sam, make him realise that despite the freakish powers and the dangerous destiny Sam is still a boy, that Sam Winchester is Dean Winchester's little brother.
So, yes, I LOVE this episode with the passion of a thousand burning sun. Oh, and Jared was AWESOME in this episode.
