So, I have been trying to do a write up of The Sarah Connor Chronicles for awhile now, however, every time I open a word document I can only come up with one word; perfection. See, the thing with Terminator and Sarah Connor is that the former is probably my all time favourite movie, ever, and the latter is my BIGGEST girl!crush. I would turn lesbian for Sarah Connor. Anyways, the point is while I tend to ignore the existence of T3 as part of the Terminator franchise I am in absolute awe of SCC. Like completely without question in awe of the series. It is the one show that I will watch from beginning to end without fast forwarding bit or hunt down spoilers because I want to enjoy the series in the now. What I’m trying to say is that the series has done an amazing job of recreating all the reasons of why I was in love with the first 2 films; the plot feels cohesive, the characters are wonderfully fleshed out, and there is an injection of some brilliant ideas into the franchise.

I have seen the first 6 episodes of the series, and episode 6, Dungeons & Dragons blew me away. I love how dead people in this series get a chance to have their story told, I love how no one is ever redundant in this show, I love how they brought the spectre of Kyle Reese in the form of his brother, Derek Reese. I admit it when he said he was called Derek Reese I mentally SQUEEED for several minutes. It was one of those moments that you half hoped for and half dreaded, because OMFG! It was going to fuck Sarah and John over.

I really want to know what was in the basement; who did torture and why the music.

One of the things that I got from Derek’s memories, and I’m unsure whether this was done intentionally or not, the slightly sinister cast to John Connor in the future; a man who is the saviour of the human race, but a man who is secretive, controlling and potentially all powerful, no one question shim. And that, well that is kind of scary. Also, I kind of love how the young John shows a very strong line of ruthlessness in his personality when the teenage angst isn’t overpowering higher brain functions. He can be impulsive but by the gods he is down right cold when it comes to making decisions about the big picture and a stranger’s life. He was perfectly willing to let Derek die before Sara told him that Derek was his uncle.

I LOVE the show to tiny bits, and anything I say will probably be biased, but honestly, I have not spotted one thing that they have done wrong yet.

The icon is disturbing, but you know, it should in the context of Terminator.

And you really should ot read the review, it is one of the few series that should be watched as it happens. It is awesome.

On the other hand, young John seems a lot kinder and more compassionate than his older self. That's always seemed a big plot point to me. He was the one who ordered the Terminator not to kill, he taught him slang and how to d a thumbs-up, etc. He's way less ruthless than Sarah. I thought the best moment in D&D was when Derek was screaming at him to tell him where Kyle was and John was holding his head looking absolutely horrified. Holy shit, I sent my dad off to die! I hope we don't have to see John become the person who sent his father to his death just so he would be born.

In conclusion, HOLY MOTHER OF GOD YES. I LOVE THIS SHOW. SQUEEEEEEE.

Very true! And John become the person who sent his father to his death just so he would be born. Because OMFG! Yes! I'm not sure how I feel about it because in the films the older John Connor was always depicted as someone who was this Messiah-like figure, someone who was GOOD, strong and so forth. And suddenly in the series they are starting to reveal bits about his character that I find to be rather manipulative; sending his father into the past to basically die, having all this knowledge that he tells no one, and now sending his uncle to into the past to die (?). I mean I understand why he need to do this but at the same time I see the John Connor of now who wanted to save a girl from committing suicide, and *WILD HAND GESTURES* it is just so damn complicated!

But yes, OMFG! I LOVE THIS SHOW SO DAMN MUCH!!!!!

Yeah, someone pointed out that Kyle might never have thought twice about Sarah Connor if John hadn't given him the picture and encouraged his interest in her, and thus Kyle might never have volunteered for the mission at all. Which. Is pretty calculating and kind of fucked up and yeah, sending not only your father back but his brother too. =/ That's harsh. But I guess we might have to wait to see what happens to Derek before we can judge him on that.

And now with the series I'm super excited about the movie! I hope they keep some of these developments in mind. It can't be bad with Christian Bale, though. ♥

ohn hadn't given him the picture and encouraged his interest in her,

EXACTLY! It is like giving people the illusion of a choice while basically having all the cards. And you know, that is really cold, calculating and very harsh. I'm really unsure about why John sent Derek too, I can only think that he has some role to play in forging John Connor of the future. Also, what the hell is Cameron up to? She is basically collecting ALL the major ingredients for creating a Terminator, the question is just whose directive is she acting under? Is she doing it for her own reasons or did John Connor program her with a second directive. Also, I keep on thinking it would be kind of poetic justice if John Connor ultimately created the Terminators!

I'm reserving all feelings in regards to the film until it comes out at the cinemas.
