I'm glad I never watched 90210. I have no idea how BAG was in that role, but as Derek he is pretty fucking awesome. I love this character so much. He is the best uncle ever, partly because he's such a badass but you can tell has a soft spot for kids, like Kyle and John. I'm interested to see where the show will take him in terms of his 'badness.'

And yes, the scene where he took John to see Kyle was just. Man.

Interesting take on John! That would be... interesting. And I don't really put anything past his future self. In the future he seems pretty obsessed with machines.
