So, I was a bit ambivalent about Derek Reese despite his relation to Kyle in the beginning, but NO more for Derek Reese is just all sort of fucking AWESOME! Though I was completely shocked when I realised that he was played by Brian Austin Green of 90210, I mean, he was David Silver, He Whom I dubbed as the Annoying One. But man he has aged well. Anyways, the point is I'm really all for Derek Reese now, because he is willing to kill, to lie and to do whatever it takes to ensure that the Apocalypse never happens. And he loved Kyle so much, it must have gutted him not knowing what happened to his little brother, the kid he saved, protected and brought up.
I love how the show doesn't go down the track of people being stupid. Case in point- Derek figuring out John was Kyle's son, and how he set it up that John got the chance to meet Kyle as a boy. That scene, when John handed the baseball to the young Kyle (adorable little boy who looked like 5), and the slow realisation on John's face and when it all clicked together. Oh my god, I wanted to cry. John's father-issues laid out right there in the open, and it is just so damn perfect.
In the same vein, Sarah figuring out Derek was the one that killed Andy; and OMFG! Brian Austin Green is kind of hot! And I’d just like to comment how they played the scene; there was absolutely nothing sexual about it, Sarah did not smirk or look down, it was all about Derek lying, and it was just awesome.
Another character that is damn intelligent is Ellison; his dogged determination in discovering the truth, and actually believing in the impossible because the evidence is there, and still having faith. I just, man, I just think this guy is all kind of awesome.
And the discovery of Cameron's little um, lifting of certain important object that can potentially build a Terminator. Of course Derek Reese would never a cyborg, of course he would search her room, and of course there will be a thrown down, of a sort.
This show loves their smart characters. YAY!
I'm unsure where the show is going with Cameron, but it feel as if they are angling for a meta debate about the evolution of the T3s and other cyborgs. That the idea of a soul within a machine is not so farfetched, that they can appreciate beauty and they want things for themselves. The scene where Cameron is performing the ballet in her room not because of a program but purely for the pleasure of it, oh man, oh man, the evolution of the machines. Also, Derek’s expression is heart wrenching, and I wonder just how much does he know about the evolution of the cyborgs, after all we never discovers what was in the basement, only the music, and why would a cyborg need music?
I keep on wondering what John Connor is like in the future, and this may sounds completely cracked and insane. By the gods I would LOVE to learn that John Connor of the future is a cyborg, that somewhere along the line he dies but make the choice of creating a cyborg of himself who can evolve because he met Cameron as a child, and he knows that the machines can change, can evolve, can appreciate love. That’s what I kind of want.
They better RENEW the show!

And yes, the scene where he took John to see Kyle was just. Man.
Interesting take on John! That would be... interesting. And I don't really put anything past his future self. In the future he seems pretty obsessed with machines.
I'm pretty sure that's not how it is going to end up, it is just that the future John seem to be a pretty ruthless man who calculate everything and remove all emotions from the equation. I find him kind of terriyfing, and yes, just what the hell does it do to a person that all the major figures in his life are machines, beside Sarah of course. I LOVE this show so very much!
