Reality Talent Shows & Star Trek

Life is busy, fandom revolves around me catching up to ATWT (NUKE!!!!), and an obscene amount of reality talent shows. Adam Lambert of American Idol and Britain’s Got Talents pretty much ate my brain, with the rest of my free time dedicated to reading Star Trek fics. I have tagged many ST:XI fics on my delicious account. I’m trying to sort out a third viewing of the film. In fact I would like to take the time to talk about Spock is a bitch in this film; there is a lack of stability and so much rage in his character that was never present in the TOS!Spock. This Spock is the sort that will fuck your shit up if you do not back down, you know he is sort that will salt the earth. That is, he is damn scary and kind of awesome.

In short, this fandom is awesome! And look! New desktop!

Had to make a few minor changes. Tell me what you think? If you only want the original, tell me.

hmmm, I wouldn't mind a minor trim off the left hand side if it meant the picture was larger and there was less black space?

If it's too much trouble I can just work something out. ^^;

Yeah, he's a bit volatile, that Spock. (I still enjoy how basically every decision he makes is quite emotionally based or spur of the moment, but he manages to convince himself he's being rational. Is that as common to Vulcans as it is to humans - see also Spock's daddy trying to justify marrying his mother without using the L word - or are we meant to consider it a sign of Spock's, let's say, less developed emotional restraint? Or, uh, maybe we're supposed to pretend we didn't see that.) And decisive.

I wonder what caused it! And can Spock Prime teach him how to get his emotions under control, or will that continue to fall to Kirk via demonstration?

(Apologies for my ff.net summary style of writing; long day!)

Spock's rationalisation is awesome cakes. The thing with the Vulcans (at least in the original series) is that they had very deep emotions they were just better at controlling them. But yes, Sarek in the film went out of his way to think of a logical explanation about marrying Amanda without saying love. I get the feeling it took a lot to get the marriage approved via the Vulcan Council.

I get the feeling Spock Prime is all about watching them figure out everything on their laugh, and occasionally be highly amused by a young Spock and young Kirk. Also, seperis' awesome hypothesis that time didn't just change for the future but also vibrated through the past as well. It is all sort of awesome.

(It is OK, I get quite a bit of amusement from ff.net summaries.
