Just came back from a viewing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.

My reaction can be summed up as meh. Don't get me wrong it isn't a bad film, but it really isn't a great film either. Yes, it is Indiana Jones, but the film felt lazy, like they were too dependent on the fact that it was an Indiana Jones film, that it stars Harrison Ford, and that Spielberg and Lucas is at the helm. In short; not too impressed, it isn’t a bad film, but it is nothing to write home about.

ALIENS! AHAHAHAHA! That is kind of cool. I mean they have already found the Ark and the Holy Grail of course only aliens can top it. Oh, and they showed a shot of the Ark! I suspect sequels.

I just saw it as well, i think it was a pretty good movie, although i tend to think they skipped over the non-action sequences to get to the gooey centre action sequences

A surprisingly small cast for such a big hollywood epic, and on the subject of sequels Shia would probably take the lead but I don't think they's call it Indiana Jones, Mutt Jones and McGuffin of Evilness?

On the subject of the name "Mutt" I wonder if they came with as sort of a homage to "Indiana" being the dog's name, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

To me it only ranked an OK. The set was amazing though. In regards to the non-action sequences, exactly, and I think because of it the film lost some of its magic.

I thought Shia did a pretty good job. Though I question whether he can carry off the Indiana Jones legacy. If it is going to be him, it is going to be a very different feel, which may not be a bad thing.

As for 'Mutt' I think Marion Ravenswood has an awesome sense of humour. And no, I don't think you are reading too much into it, the name definitely comes across as something Lucas and Spielberg would find as amusing.

Indiana = George Lucas's dog back when he was thinking up the story
Short Round = dog of one of the other crew members
Willie = somebody else's dog (possibly Spielberg's IIRC)
Mutt = continuing the tradition
