I'm not a writer. In my moments of insanity I get the brilliant idea that I can write epic novels of stunning intellect and emotional fulfilment. However, the truth is that I don't enjoy writing. I love stories, I love to speculate, to discuss, to contribute as a critic but I do not like to write. I'm generally in awe of writers who can churn out 100 of thousands of words in a very short period of time. I often wish I had the money to open my own publishing company so that I may only publish the stories I love. In short, I respect authors, even if I don’t respect their personal politics or beliefs; I respect their ability to write stories, to get that word count.

So, it is rather daunting and kind of sad to discover that the publishing world is not just gender-biased but also have a beautiful amount of bigotry. I don’t know who William Sanders is, nor did I know of this Helix magazine, but I assure you I’ll not be purchasing the item or anything associated with William Sanders in the future. Oh the up side there are still people with integrity around.

Humanity you fail often, but sometimes you make up for it with individuals of pure awesomeness.
