naanima: ([Smallville] When the world goes flying)
It is Friday I have a shitload of work, like enough work to drown me for the next 3 months but instead of working I am HAPPILY reading my friend list and watching Youtube clips because the aftermath of fandom wank is usually HAPPY SPARKLES and PORN and more PORN!

Also, OMFG! MOST IDIOTIC IDEA IN HISTORY - Australian Government Proposes Checking MP3 Players at Airports (link provided by [livejournal.com profile] _leareth). How out of touch do you have to be to come up with this proposal? Ideas like these make me think our government is run by monkeys. Monkeys I tell you! Even if this goes beyond a proposal have they actually thought through the LOGISTICS of this? How do you tell if the MP3s on an MP3 player is legal or not? Oh gods, our government are full of idiots who should be stabbed with sporks.

In other news; I’m REALLY looking forward to the new Friday the 13th film. EEEE!

ETA: delicious with new look!

I should pick your brain! I've been picking a variety of people's brain over Uni. I was thinking of looking at two issues:

1) The question of individual privacy in relation to the piracy issue - looking at the laws surrounding it, how far is too far - eg. the example of the airport searching (logistics aside)
2) education and the internet - ? I can't quite pin this down to a single issue. But have you come across iTunes U? how educational institutions make use of new technology and make deals with corporations to gain access to their students....blah.

[livejournal.com profile] _leareth is probably much more knowledgeable than me. But I'll give it a try.

1. This is probably the easiest as it has the most information. It depends whether you are looking at US or Australia. Either way this will probably have the most information.

2. There was that fiasco with major Networks got universities to provide them with their user IP database to go after students who were involved in illegal downloading. I mean that is pretty invasive when corporations are going after education institutions.
