YES! The writers finally call on the crap that Sam and Dean have done in the past 3 seasons. Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE the boys but gods, the Winchesters have done some truly shitty things to people all in the name of saving each other. Great on a thematic level, but so damn cold for every character that gets in the way.
I made a high shrieky noise when Meg said everything I have thought of, and KICKING Dean! Because YES! Just YES! Sam not even thinking about the girls that Ruby burns through and his reaction is just OMFG! Because Sam is cold like that, just because he has faith doesn’t mean he is nice. Because gods damn it, our show does realise what it is doing, and you know what? They at least try to change, and will own up to their mistakes. So, what-the-fuck-ever naysayers.
Henricksen and Ronald! HEEE! And poor Nancy!
Castiel shows us a bit more about his true self. God’s soldier before anything else; his brothers are dying, they are fighting a war, and Dean Winchester, for some reason, is one shiny weapon. Just YES! That whole scene was just beautifully done. Kripke must have seen The Prophecy. The last time Angels walked the Earth was 2000 years ago, birth of Christ, the last sighting of the Devil tempting Christ. And just OMFG! Who the hell is Mary’s family?!
Moving on - I have seen this quite a bit that people don’t like Castiel, or want to like him but can’t seem to, and you know, that’s OK, because I don’t think you are meant to like him, because he isn’t human, he doesn’t want to be human, Castiel want to win the war for God and be damned anything else.
Now for the Meta, because omfg! I have so much to Meta about!
Future Plot Guesswork, or how I want things to go; Kripke, PLEASE LOVE Gaiman for all the right reasons. Or hey, have you ever seen ‘The Prophecy’?
So, Lucifer is walking amongst men.
Sam is Lucifer.
I want to believe. I really, really, really want to believe that Sam is the incarnation of Lucifer, and that Mary’s family, millennia’s ago, locked up Lucifer in a cage as soldiers of God or something. It is the way I would take the plot line. You know, Sam becoming Lucifer, Dean and Sam have the Epic Battle of Good vs Evil, except they say fuck it, and Sam as Lucifer basically choose his brother (no, not fucking humanity, his family, his brother, because it makes my inner English Lit. Major scream in happiness for Lucifer choosing his human family over Heaven’s cohort; the biggest fuck you to destiny, fate whatever you want to call it). You know, like Lucifer of Sandman, realising he can choose, and he does choose. Except one step farther, choosing to live as human because say what you will but the Winchesters understands the ties of blood.
MY REASONING FOR THIS
So, sometime last season I made a post about how everything is about Mary, and I thought I may as well expand on that since you know; I’ll probably by Joss’d next week (though I really, really, really want to be Kripk’d).
Everything goes back to Mary, or more specifically her family; perhaps it is the psychic powers, perhaps they are part of a prophecy. Hell, for all we know, they could be a family of guardians who, 2 millennia’s ago (last time Angel walked the Earth, they are walking it once more to fight Lucifer) locked up Lucifer in a cage (physical or otherwise). Whatever it is about her or her family Sam pretty much got most of it. Yes, I’m still one of those people who 100% believe that Sam’s powers are all his own. And to a less extent Dean’s probably important because of his link to Sam (though I think Dean is so important because he is normal, an example of why humanity should be saved despite its faults).
So, Lucifer is locked up in a cage, demons forget that he was real, painting him as a Saviour of their kind, which is hilarious, Lucifer didn’t fall for anyone but himself. Lucifer fell because his pride for wanting to be the most import being to God. You have this being that is like the second most powerful being in existence, locked up. Sooner or later he is going to think of a way to get out. There is a loophole in everything, you just have to figure it out, and you know, several millennia, a brain that is boundless and he must found something, something so out there, something that the humans never thought he would do.
See where I’m going with this? Yes, the most prideful of God’s Angels, choosing to possess a human vessel because dude, stuck in limbo (or wherever they stuck him) was a shit. So, the loophole; Lucifer can escape his prison only if he is born into a human vessel; limited in all the ways a human is. Not possession, but for all purposes becoming a human (or perhaps the ‘cage’ is that of a human body, or a series of human bodies containing his soul, his essence, like Mary’s family literally is the cage that imprisons Lucifer). Except Lucifer is smarter than that, he doesn’t want to be a human forever, so he goes about making a fake prophecy (the power of suggestion can make things happen) to set things in motion, to get him out of his prison of flesh and bones and mortality.
Some random demon has a dream about a Prophecy, it gets written, demons begin to believe and before you know it demons are attempting to fulfil it. And what is written in this prophecy? Perhaps it speaks of a Boy King leading them to Lucifer, seals that need to be broken, and Lucifer walking amongst men once more. Either way it will serve Lucifer’s purpose by getting some attention to a little human baby with a potential for power. Perhaps some demon by the name of Azazel thought it was a brilliant idea to have the Boy King of the Prophecy under his thumb?
Then comes along little Sam Winchester, son of Mary, and you know, I get the sneaky suspicion that the Universe loves irony. But yes, Sam Winchester, so much potential and so much power, and Azazel have been waiting for a long time for a Boy King to unleash the Gate. Except you know, Sam Winchester is bit more than your average psychic kid, or Boy King wannabe, Sammy have something living inside of him that can repel Lilith, mother of men or demons (depending on which version of the Judeo-Christian doctrine you are reading), rumoured to be the consort of the Devil. So, just what does Lilith know, what does Lilith want with a human, what has Lilith scared of little Sammy? A Sam who is immune to Lilith’s powers? *HINT*!
Yeah, well, wouldn’t you want to be on the Morning Star’s good side when he breaks out of his human cage? Or you know, get your husband back.
So, I REALLY WANT TO BELIEVE!
Dear Kripke,
I TRUST you!
Please don’t break my trust. And if any of my insane plot ramblings becomes true I want a part of the revenue!
LOVES,
naanima

You know, when I looked at that sentence? My brain went ALL KINDS of places that could get REALLY INTERESTING really fast.
[here from spn_heavymeta]
I mean her name is MARY! Her family has been killed so it wasn't just her. So, WHY IS SHE AND HER FAMILY SO IMPORTANT!
But gods if it isn't going to canon I hope someone other fic author out there would like to play with i. *HINTHINTHINT!*.
I do agree that ultimately, no matter if Sam was demon or not, Kripke better show that it's the ties of family that Sam and Dean will choose over everything else.
it's the ties of family that Sam and Dean will choose over everything else.
That right there is the way I want the series to end, because as much as the myth arc and the MOTW are fun what I'm really here for is Sam and Dean being a family and choosing each other over every thing else.
Really? Everything I've been seeing is the exact opposite. I do think, though, that this is not a warm and cuddly character and there's a lot there we don't know and may not like.

Intriguing idea, but then where do the generations of psychic kids fit into this? Because Azazel was still making them after Sam's generation had come of age.
It has been rather all over the place. Many people were put off by what he said to Dean in regards to putting him back in hell. See, I like him because he is so different from most of the characters. My liking of him is because he isn't warm and cuddly, and in many ways I don't want him to be confined by human morality.
I think Azazel was smart enough to place his bets very carefully. It isn't as if he knew 100% that Sam was the King, and I think he was doing the smart thing by having insurance if this batch of psychic kids were a wash.
For real, though, I want to get some explanation about Mary this year. Let's go, Kripke. And beyond just Mary, weren't a lot of her friends dead too? What's up with that?
But yes, what the hell with the death of everyone Mary knew? And it isn't just that, it is like only people pre-marriage to John. At least I think it was the case, I mean Mike (during Home) was still alive, though I suppose he couldn't exactly be considered a friend.
