From my own meagre selling of -stuff-, not neccesarily bookmarks, is that people would rather buy something that is cheap and looks like shit (ie 80gsm photocopy paper prints @ $5), as opposed to paying a little more ($8) for something that is of better quality (200gsm card semigloss SUPER+++ MY ART HAR HAR.), no srsly.

Of course yeah you have to factor in that most of my shit were originals, as opposed to, I dunno, shiny catboys or overatted games. D:

and yea matte finish is the one that isn't shiny. gloss is shiny.
