Pacifica Quartet

Just came back from the conclusion of Pacifica Quartet's concerto, during which they played Mendelssohn. It was an interesting experience; I have never been to a proper classical concert so everything was all new to me. I think I would have enjoyed it much more if they had chosen something else to play rather than Mendelssohn. However, I really loved Fugue in E flat major, it was so much more visceral than the rest of the music choices. I’m really glad I went but I think I shall go to something different next time. Still want to go to a musical or opera.

Phantom is still playing (http://www.burswood.com.au/Shows-and-Promotions/Promo/?promo_id=355) GO SEE IT. It's the longest running musical in history and one of 'the' musicals of all time (the other being Les Miserables). This is the first time it's been done in Australia since I was in high school (it's a huge, expensive production, it doesn't come around often) and even better it has Anthony Warlow in he title role who is widely acknowledged as the best Phantom ever on stage. GO SEE IT DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Symphonies: anything from the Late classical (Beethoven) onwards I think you'd enjoy. Opera can be an acquired taste but if there's a production of 'Carmen' by Bizet definitely worth that checking out.

(I'm probably going to spend far too much on arts stuff this year LOL. Ah Sydney)
