Whee!

So, I have come to the realisation that perhaps I want to keep my lj and dw accounts separate, at least when it comes to content. However, I’m still very unsure about the type of content I want to keep on dw so I think I shall take an organic approach, that is, see where it goes naturally.

I have been re-reading the Foreigner series by C.J. Cherryh, and it still is one of my all time favourite sci-fi series. LOVES so very much.

Also, it seems getting an invite code for DW is quite a difficult thing.

Really? They gave all the closed beta account holders like five codes, so there should be thousands out there.

Yep. Got an email informing me that my request for an invite code was denied. I'm not too fussed mainly because the person I was originally requesting the code for got one already.

I am, however, curious about how they go about selecting who gets the codes.

ETA: This was of course based on requesting an invite code. I just checked my dw_account a few secs ago, it appears I do have 5 invite codes now. Yay!

Yeah, they decided to cancel the previous requests since they were going to give everyone codes anyhow.

I haven't read Cherryh's Foreigner series, but a lot of people seem to like it so I'll have to check it out sometime.

Have you read her Fortress series? Fortress in the Eye of Time etc. I ask because I am contemplating writing something in that fandom for a Yuletide NYR and don't think I know anybody who is familiar with the canon to beta (or at least pre-read) for me.

I love the Foreigner series! All I want to do is draw little love hearts around it. I have got the first 3 books and have just ordered the rest because I want a copy of my own.

No, I haven't read any of her Fortress series. What is is about? I may check it out.

They're a high fantasy series, rather political in nature but there's some action as well. I am rather enamoured of the main character, who was pulled out of the ether as a young man with no memory/experience of the world at all.

I can lend them to you if you like, but I'm leaving the country in something like 6 weeks, so unless you're a very quick reader...

Well, I was denied the opportunity to gain an invite code. however, this was before the dw_news announcement, so they may be there tomorrow.
