JoJo Part 3

naanima: (I kill people 'cos they were mean to me)

Jotaro is a lovable idiot. Yes, he's stoic, he's competent, but he also stuck cigarettes in his own mouth. Oh, the dork. Star Platinum is LOVE! He has an EXPRESSION when Jotaro doesn't!

The fight between Bast and Joseph & Abdul! OMFG! I could not stop laughing. Dancing in the street, and the whole; 'This position is rather...' OH MY GOD! ABDUL! *LAUGHS*

The ongoing jokes about Joseph and his piloting skills. What piloting skills? I love the fact Araki added this bit in, as much as Joseph is cool he really can't pilot.

The Oingo/Boingo fight; the art is surprisingly disturbing yet hilarious at the same time. (It amazes me just how macabre Araki can be.) Later in the manga when Boingo teams up with Hol (what's his name, the guys with the gun) was an exercise in psychological terror (I admit, there was much giggling on my part.)

Jotaro writing in his little note book about all the things that was done to him during his 'slavery' binge under the guy who had the Lovers stand was great! I lost it completely because JOTARO HAS GRUDGE BOOK!

Kakyoin is EVIL! Let's not even talk about the whole lying to Polnareff about Abdul's death, there's his treatment of Mannish Boy (yes, Freddy lives on!) He also likes causing people pain... ok, he's a teenager, the conversation he and Jotaro has about sumo wrestlers is just so funny.

Polnareff being turned to a child by Polnareff was AWESOME! And CUTE!! I'm still peeved that we were cheated out of seeing Jotaro as a child.

The video-game face off was a true exercise in cheating by the Great Joseph Joestar! I love the man.

Iggy! Love Iggy, love how all he wanted was to live as the King of the stray dogs, meet up with a nice female dog and have a family, and the fact he saved a little child who loved dogs... *cries* The only death in Part 3 that made sniffle.

Dio; Evil, Cruel, bad-bad-megalomaniac-vampire-lord-of-doom. I see what sabina mean about the whole vampire Lestat thing. I think it is only in hindsight that I realised just what a sick sense of humour Dio actually has. The bit where Polnareff is attempting to climb the stair and he keeps on moving back, or the politician... man, it only dawned on me later that Dio HAD to have used the World because he felt like fucking with people's minds. Also, Dio's total disregard for life is truly disturbing. The face between him and Jotaro where he uses the World, cutting a cat in half in from of him... and the rest was just disturbing.

In conclusion; I really wish Kakyoin, Abdul and Iggy didn't die. You really get attached to the morons. But at least Araki didn't kill JOSEPH!!! (That would have crushed me). Though the questions Jotaro asks Joseph to confirm his identity after the blood transfusion; 'Who sang 'Eat it'? Was just too fucking much. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to cry or laugh.

The ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA! And the MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA! is hilarious.

Conclusion: Part 2 is still my favorite part but I do love part 3.

YES! So you noticed that too, how usually the Stands look abstract and robot-like, but StaPla has more expression then Jojo and that is just so awesome.

Yeah, the Oingo Boingo art was not purty, but it was cool, and sheer hilarity of it was just so unexpected. XD

The cool thing about Jotaro is that he sekritly has a huge sense of humor, I think. He just is deadpan.

Kakyouin IS evil. It was his idea that Polnareff be kept in the dark, right? (Can't recall).

With me I was really shocked by the sheer suddeness of Abdul's death. ;_; Also Araki sensei is really m33n, because usually *the dog gets to survive*. :0 But Kakyouin's death really shocked me, because here he had this moment of glory, then was cut down. Painful. (Why does Jojo's best pal have to die again?)

Dio is just that kind of guy, though. From part one, he likes to screw with people. But that esp. inventive streak of fucking with people is what makes Dio a megalomaniac evil overlord to remember.

Oh, and you still have Part 4 to look forward to... now that is "different."

YES! If the Stands are anthropomorphic representations of an user's ego then StaPla's expressions must mean something about Jotaro's expression *sniggers*

It is cool, and remind me of vodoo drawings... you know, if vodoo witches actually drew anything -_-;; (it make sense in my brain.) Exactly! It made me laugh! But it definitely was horrifying at the same time. Araki does some aweome horror.

Anyone of Joseph's genes can't help it but have a really good sense of humour ^__^

YES! It was indeed Kakyouin's idea to keep Polnareff in the dark. I felt so sorry for Polnareff but it was so fuuny!

The thing is I saw the OAVs before I ever even knew there was a 70+ something manga series to read. So I knew to expect the death (hell I had COLOUR VISUALS of the deaths), therefore, I set out reading part 2 with huge reservation (mantra of: DON'T GET OO ATTACHED! DON'T GET TOO ATTACHED!) And some of it stuck, some *sigh*. Abdul and Iggy's death had way more impact in the manga because I got the chance fall in love with Abdul and Iggy's characters, when Polnareff started crying I kinda lost it *sniffles*. When Kakyouin died I had a more reserved reaction though I couldn't help but wonder about his parents. I mean, d00d! He's a HS student, and his parents from what we know aren't bad people, when they found it must have been devastating... hmm, and now I want fic where Jotaro goes back to Japan and inform Kakyouin's parents about his death. But yes, definitely painful, as with the other deaths it defnitely made me sad, and dammit WHY THE BEST FRIENDS?! WHY?! THE JOJOs DOESN'T DESERVE THIS! *CRIES* I am so TRAUMATISED over Caesar and the thing is I can't even tell you why, because you are right Abdul's death was much more sudden, Kakyouin had his moment of glory, yet I'm UNBELIEVEBLY traumatised by Caesar. Damn you Araki!

Dio is just that kind of guy, though. From part one, he likes to screw with people. But that esp. inventive streak of fucking with people is what makes Dio a megalomaniac evil overlord to remember.

Dio is evil. Hot but evil.

Oh, and you still have Part 4 to look forward to... now that is "different."

Up to volume 30-something. Not going to read more because I only have up to volume 39, and I have just stopped after the boys got that load of cash, and it is just the beginning of the Kira arc. I don't want to start something that's not going to be wrapped up. I NEED more manga.

Part 4 is surprisingly different, and while it is still harsh it isn't as harsh as the previous parts (and I am forever thankful for that). In fact, dare I say, it is almost innocent, there's none of that MUST kill the opponents, or the opressing intenstity like the previous parts, and I admit I'm beginning to breathe a bit easier (not looking out for who is going to be murdered *twitches*). Josuke is more like Jonathan than the other Joestars, and Crazy Diamond's ability is fecking awesome (A MALE HEALER!). I LOVE JOTARO! I love the fact that Jotaro has received such a reputation after the defeat of Dio, NO one wants to fight him heads on and that's just hilarious. On the other hand the incident with the rat stand users shows us that CARDINAL rule of JoJo's: No matter how hardcore the Stand it can ALWAYS be brought down by someone less powerful. It is the creativity and the intelligence of the user, surprise will, more often than not, win the battle for you. Seeing Joseph is both painful and somehow brings me a smile at the same time, and I'm too mixed up to provide a proper anwer as to the whys.

P.S. Echo is COOL!

It did also remind me of Gahan Wilson drawings, for some reason. And Araki really likes horror. If you read his short story collection, every story in there was some kind of horror one. (It's like he has mastery over so many modes: action-adventure, travelogue, horror, humor. Well... not really romance, but you can't be good at everything. XD)

Oh yeah, I kind of wondered if Jotaro was the one who had to tell Kakyouin's parents too. Although I wonder what he told them? He must have just made something up. Thing about JoJo is that so many of the deaths are sudden, and yet I'm not complaining (not that I usually do, but I know that fans tend to, like the death in HP5).

It's true... From the beginning his methods of screwing people were especially inventive and sadistic.

?Part 4 is completely translated, though? I can give you links? Exactly, it's less intense, though it also has weirdness and horror, and yet also this nice boring little town.

I know, but for Jotaro this is actually a serious problem, because reputation is actually what a Stand User does NOT want. (Ahaha, male healer, almost Suikodenish, yeh? Part 5 has a sorta-healer too, but it's like the OPPOSITE of Part 4 as far as innocence is concerned. Oh yeah, that's another reason I like JoJo: the power of surprise, tactics, and luck is emphasized.

Gahan Wilson? Sounds really familiar but can't put my finger on it, will google later.. Araki is excellent at horror, his art style lend itself to a horror-realism. Ohhh, will hunt down some of his horror short stories later on. (let's not forget his mastery over FASHION & POSES! *giggles madly*)

It would be really hard, and I -really- want to know what Jotaro said! (Have noticed how NO one calls Jotaro JoJo, most of it is the fact everytime I think about it I crack up laugh... mind you, I can't imagine any of the 'JoJos' being well, called JoJo.) I think one of the reasons that I don't complain about the deaths in JoJo is the fact that they are in moral danger, EVERY SINGLE one of them, at ANY TIME! It kind of make you expect and accept it when it happens (that doesn't mean I don't throw a tantrum or cry because when Araki punches he punches HARD!)

Dio = EVIL SADIST MEGALOMANIC BASTARD!

Don't worry, have classes, got mid-semesters and major assignments coming up, oh, in the next week or so. So, um, later. Finished Volume 39.

You're telling me! People knows Jotaro, and omg! That's a major problem! It is always about surprise and tactics in JoJo, power level very rarely plays a part in the world of JoJo.

His work is in the New Yorker a lot? Just google I think, and pics will come up. Araki's art style continues to develop after part three. I like it the best in part 5, actually, but it's also good currently.

I could see Joseph being called Jojo... Jotaro though, sort of demands to be called by his proper name. XD Yeah, he does punch hard, but that's one reason he's so good. And in arc 5 (where I'm reading now, damn, boy does he punch hard. >_<)

Heh, good luck on those.

Jotaro is like a celebrity in the stand world against his will, sadly. Comes back to haunt him frequently.
