news and television

naanima: (not fade away)
I turn on the television this morning, and for awhile there I thought "The world is going to end." The Lebanon and Israel situation is too complex to make a judgment call on. All I know is that the whole thing is fucking scary, as seen by how far both sides are willing to take matters.

On the home front, the Australian government gets more embarrassing.

Somber matters aside; while on the bus yesterday I overheard a conversation between three girls that were around 12-yr-old or so. Their topic of conversation; miscellaneous television series, in the time span of 20 minutes I learned all I needed to learn about The O.C., Prison Break and 24. This is extremely significant as I have never seen more than 5 minutes of the stated series. I do admit, I learned more about The O.C. than the latter two series as the girls were much more interested in the drama of good looking youths. Anyways, apparently, in The O.C. Summer is cool, Marissa is depressing, Seth is a dork, and Ryan can’t seem to decide what he wants, and that there was a girl called Anna (Anne?) who people seem to have differing opinions on. I comment on this because the conversation reminds me why I stopped watching T.V.

… Except I caught one episode of Smallville yesterday, and if the overheard conversation on the bus didn’t remind me on why I stopped watching T.V., the badly written angst on Smallville has reinforced my view.

Also, television makes me mad, just ask the boyfriend. I get more snarky and more vicious in my commentary.

Middle East = going to hell.

Israel/Palestine = going to hell faster.

Australian government = embarrassing and stupid. Even worse because we don't even have an effective opposition to vote for.

TV = completely and utterly frustrating and too full of crap, and the new media laws don't make me feel any better at all.

In summary: the state of the world is just depressing.

1. Freak me out completely. The sad thing is, it really isn't anything that I didn't see coming, but imagining it and actually having it happen are completely 2 different things.

2. That one is as old as recorded time, and honestly, I can't say I blame the Palestinians... if I have to I'm blaming the UK and the US, it was a stupid move to make at the end of WW2. You do not move into one country to tell them they have to give it up for another nation... not matter how highly debatable Israel belongs to.

3. Oh gods, as ig Latham wasn't bad enough.

4. TV... media laws >_<;; I really dislike politicians at the minute.

In summary: it is scary, people are idiots, and we are all going to hell.

Oh, and re: Israel bombing Lebanon. Technically it is an act of war. But we can blame the almight Bush Administration for starting the "defensive pre-emptive strike" precedent.

I need a 'Christmas as Ground Zero' Icon.

It sums up everything I need to say.

Gods, YES. It is a very cool concept, but the dialogue writers should be shot. Every fifth line is cheese. (And every tenth episode, next-door girl turns into sexy psycho villian. It gets old.)

It is truly painful. Then again, I watch it for Lex! Except you know, I haven't actually watched the series for over 2 or 3 years now -_-;; The dialogue became too much, the Kents were pissing me off, and Lex was getting the short end of the stcik. Oh yeah, and the SEXY-girl-next-door turns evil once more *sigh*.

P.S. Are you home? Wanna meet up tomorrow? 'Cos you know, I'm leaving Tuesday!!!! I'll call you tonight, and we can confirm then.
