From James Gunn's "
MY 25 FAVORITE FUCKING TV CHARACTERS, AND MORE TV SHIT!
MY 25 FAVORITE TV CHARACTERS EVER (or at least the ones I could think of sitting down for a half-hour...)
The RULES
"No puppets or cartoons, otherwise Kermit and Homer would definitely be on this list.
No mini-series, otherwise I'd definitely include Philip Marlow from THE SINGING DETECTIVE.
No reality show people, otherwise Matt Kennedy Gould from THE JOE SCHMO SHOW would be on here.
All characters must be regulars on the show. Okay, here we go."
1) Aeryn Sun, FARSCAPE, LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I don't care what people say about her and her un-Aeryn-like-actions in season 4, she's still my all time female role model. I love her for the bravery in the face of change, love her for loving John, and love her for her willingness to take the plunge. LOVE!
2) John Crichton, FARSCAPE, I really don't even know where to start with this one. Let's just say John Crichton made me cry, laugh and cringe, and when it came down to it he just wanted to be with the one he love.
3) Dana Scully, X-FILES, beautiful, brilliant, strong, and kick arse for being able to run in those damn stilettos!
4) Buffy Summers, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, because every girl wanted to be her at some point in their lives, and when the dust settled she was still standing.
5) Livia Soprano (Edie Falco), THE SOPRANOS, need I say MORE?
6) Angel, ANGEL THE SERIES, when he got over Buffy and it was all about his dysfunctional family, and making a stand for what's right even when he can't win.
7) Tom Quinn, SPOOKS, because OMFG! WORST SPY EVER! And yet so MUCH love for the MAN! So MUCH LOVE! *draws little hearts all over her files*.
8) Rodney McKay, STARGATE: ATLANTIS, I keep on saying this, but Rodney is unbelievably sexy, in a complete cerebral way. Rodney, who whines, complains, and yet when it comes down to it saves the day.
9) Christina Yang, GREY'S ANATOMY, because I want to be her. To be so true to oneself is just beautiful.
10) Captain Jean Luc Picard, STAR TREK: Generations, because he's just that awesome, and hot.
11) Daniel Jackson, STARGATE: SG1, I love Daniel; the anthropologist who loves discovering new cultures, the one who is willing to stand in the face of death for what he believes to be right, and the one filled with enough hatred to kill.
12) CONNOR! ANGEL THE SERIES, I love me emo-boy, and all of you can go and SHUT UP! Connor is a Greek tragedy prophesised to happen, and it makes me glow with happiness to realise he had his happy ending.
13) Dr. Gregory House: for saying what everyone is thinking, and doing what most of us are dreaming of doing.
14) Xena, XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, despite not watching the last season (something I'm actually thankful for), I love Xena! She was cool, she strong, and when she needed to be she was kind. Additionally, the first MUSICAL/TV-ep that I ever saw (this was so before Buffy's music ep, which I still haven't seen yet.)
15) Illyria, ANGEL, I admit that Fred was never the one I loved, sure, I liked her but mostly I was very, um, indifferent to her. So, to see her as Illyria was an experience that I'll never forget. Besides, Illyria fascinates me; a King of a dead kingdom, weaker, less of what he was, yet willing to change to be what he was (perhaps). And you've got to love the costume.
16) Methos, HIGHLANDER, for his "I'm just another guy", because OMFG! METHOS was NOT JUST ANOTHER GUY! He was DEATH!
17) Lex Luthor, SMALLVILLE, the only thing that made the series worth watching was LEX! Because of his contradiction and his wanting to be a good man makes him damn fascinating. Besides, Greek tragedies always were my favourite.
