Tsubasa fic rec & ETA: New Saiyuki thing

  • Nov. 1st, 2005 at 8:15 AM
naanima: (hear-ye!)
I spent Halloween night sleeping! 9:00 pm bed time! I feel so well rested and happy!

READ! [livejournal.com profile] pengiesama's A Very Tsubasa Halloween

OMFG! I have not laughed this hard over fic in a very long time. With an overall heading of:

DUE TO THE FATALITIES INCURRED IN CLAMP WORKS OVER THE YEARS, WE HAVE COMPILED THE FOLLOWING SURVIVAL GUIDE.

Constant vigilance is the first key to survival.

Keeping it in your pants is the second.

And other headings such as:

VI. Whether you live or die, you'll always be back for the sequel if you have a big enough fanbase.

And the Teams! Team Woofy Kitty Bow Meow Biscuit make me snort caffine.

Oh, and don't forget to look at the pictures! *giggles*

ETA: I admit I'm extremely out of touch with the Saiyuki fandom in the sense that I have no idea (on the details) of what has been happening since volume 9 of the series. However, I do read the odd spoilers and way too many fanfiction based on Saiyuki. So, um, realise the following is made without the new context. Latest issue with the conversation between Hakkai and Gojyo: Really Not That Surprising. After all, Hakkai is the man who killed 1,000 (or was that 10,000?) youkai with his bear hands. That kind of single mindedness, that kind of ruthlessness and that kind of drive usually leaves one a little bit fucked up. Though I stand by the fact that I never questioned Hakkai's hold on sanity, ever (and that's a whole essay about the concept of sanity, and just how sane Hakkai is.) Also, really good timing, with the whole Halloween thing *smiles*

--? What's going on in Saiyuki! I could've sworn I read that volume, but I must not have, because I don't remember any conversation between Gojyo and Hakkai that could prompt a post like this. And I remember nearly everything I read about Hakkai. :D

Not volume 9, but the newest saiyuki chapter.

I have no idea about the context, all I know is that Hakkai and Gojyo have one of their talks, and Gojyo (apparently) ask if Hakkai can being anyone back from the dead, who would it be. And of course it is kind of a stupid question, but anyways, Hakkai pretty much implies he wants a zombie wife, and have little zombie children, and... yeah -_-;; I suspect I need to download the chapter if I want to know the context of the chapter.

I didn't realise there was more of it; I thought they'd pretty much translated the lot.

Hakkai pretty much implies he wants a zombie wife
Who doesn't? :D But it's not too surprising for Hakkai, no.

...

Sweetie, you do know I'm talking about Saiyuki Reload, right? The chapters that are published in Zero Sum, set after colume 9.

But yes, the zombie wife doesn't surprise me, though now I'm wondering if he'd want a zombie boyfriend if Gojyo ever dies (I ♥ Gojyo!) Actually, the question is would Hakkai go on another Murderous Genocidal Rampage if Gojyo ever get killed.

Hmm.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I didn't know, no! :D Saiyuki's order has always confused me; I didn't really understand how Reload fit in, just bought the volume that just came out because it came out after v9 did.

Maybe a mini-rage. I mean, new life and all; he wouldn't want to push his luck. Also, I doubt that Gojyo means quite as much to him as Kanan did. He would have sealed off his heart to some extent after, and she wasn't just a girlfriend, but family, his blood, and pretty much all he had, yeah? Whereas now he has Goku & Sanzo also, sort of.

d00d! You are waaaaay out of touch with the Saiyuki fandom than I am.

You TRAITOR! I refuse to speak to you now that you have shown you are NOT a Hakkai/Gojyo OPT FAN! I RENOUCE YOU! BE PREPARED to be DE-Friended! ;p

(See, that's the thing, I honestly don't know what Hakkai would do. I don't think Hakkai would ever lose himself the way he did after Kanan died, but I do belief that he'd kill every single being that was somehow involved in Gojyo's death... which, when you think about it can be anywhere between 1 person to a small town. The thing is Hakkai and Sanzo is different from Hakkai and Gojyo. Sanzo gave Hakkai his name, a chance to be a new person. Gojyo... Gojyo remind Hakkai of what was, except not, because Hakkai seem to have gotten over it, except... and ARGGGGH! I need to think on this.)

I am, I know! WK & Saiyuki fandoms are kind of mysteries to me. I don't know how to navigate them, but I can find the goodfic pretty easily, so there's no motivation to try.

I am much more of a fan of Hakkai/Goku & Hakkai/Sanzo, yeah. But I do at least read this pairing! So it's not like most of fandom's massively overpopular pairings. :D

He probably would, but, yeah, it'd be a much more conscious-decision sort of revenge than the one for Kanan, and I doubt he'd kill anyone who had nothing to do with it, this time.

It is amazing how differently each of them acts around or towards each of the others, really; even Goku, who's supposed to be the least complicated of all of them, has different behaviour sets depending on which one of them he's with.

Hakkai/Goku

Let's not speak of it ever again.

Hakkai would be much more selective in his revenge but it also means he's going to be much more creative.

Why Saiyuki is good. And Minekura's artstyle has gotten so much better. Beside, I like the fact she's trying to fill in a bit more of the blanks in the guys' pasts.

Dep't of typos
After all, Hakkai is the man who killed 1,000 (or was that 10,000?) youkai with his bear hands.

The furry ones with the claws on the fingers? Though I'm seeing him in a one-piece bear suit more, with cubby ears on top of the hoody.

Re: Dep't of typos
I plead too much sleep? (And THANK YOU for providing me the mental image!)

WAHHH! But NOW I have the mental image of Hakkai in the BearSUIT! (The one that Lain wore in 'Serial Experimental Lain'... and Gojyo can be the Alien that pops out at random in the last two eps or so!) So, um, not claws on the fingers and not too furry, but still adorable and a lot like your mental image.

You know, this is when I wish I can draw.

(now I can’t even edit it because well, it is so much more fun this way ^_^)

Hmmm does this mean we have to fit goyjo in something?

I don't know if I'm disturbed by that because Goyjo in Alien suit sounds weird... or that I'm offended because you implied I don't ever reply to msgs!

Sleep is good. I am also several years behind on all the manga series I am reading. >_>

Sleep is like the best friend I hadn't talked to in ages. If you are several years behind on your reading of manga I don't even want to know how far behind I am with the manga. (Have not read any manga since 'Bleach' 195 and considering that was the only series that I was following consistently... need holiday. Must have holiday.

I had no idea that becoming an accountant was this grueling. No autumnal holidays in Australia yet?
[identity profile] naanima.livejournal.com wrote:

Becoming an accountant in Australia is strangely stressful, and I admit I have never studied this hard just to pass a unit before.

It is a bit different with the Australian University breaks. Universtsities have two main breaks, and both of them are designed to be at the end of a semester. There's usually an one month break (or 3 weekS) mid-year (end of first semester), and than a three months break that pretty much start from December and ends on the 1st of March (end of second semester). Somewhere along the line there's a one week break per semester, which really is a catch up week for all the assignments and studies that you have missed. So, um, yes, probably different.

Oh, and the seasons are opposite of those from the Northern hemisphere. It is the beginning of Summer over here ^_^ (or is that the end of Spring...un, yeah opposite.)

Heh, so you have one more month until you have a break. Ganbare!

Eh, so Christmas is in the summer, then?

One MORE month!

Yes, Christmas is in Summer. HORRBILE, BOILING HOT, HUMID SUMMER! I miss snow. I always forget that if you are born in Australia (exclusing Qld) you probably have never seen snow in RL before.

No snow in Australia? But it seems fairly south. So does it have more of a Mediterranean climate? (New Zeland has snow though, right?)
