Manga: There’s a scene in volume 4 that pretty much explicitly implies that Matthiu is Caesar and Albert’s father. There are no words; at least I do not have them, to express what my reaction is to the revelation. I adore Matthiu, no matter what people say, I always believed that Matthiu was a genius strategist who chose a different path than Leon because Matthiu, while brilliant, is not made for war. And I just loved him to bits.
To realize that Matthiu had two sons he never mentioned and probably had not seen for years at the time of Suiko1 hurts. I want to say so much about the Silverberg family and their never ending feud with each other on the philosophies of war. I admit I’m bias on whose views I tend to lean forward to; Odessa’s death was the point of no return for me, I just knew that I was going to fall in love with Suikoden no matter what.
The manga series makes me love the Fire Champion that MUCH more, OMFG! I hope Konami may one day tell us his story in full. Except then I’ll be terrified ‘cos I know what happens to him, and it kills me to understand the suffering that will befall upon him. But damn, I adore the FC, the manga made him so much more, the way that flash back scenes are weaved in during the Hugo’s tour of the FC’s memories, and Geddoe’s own memories of the FC… oh, ♥
Just so much love.
That aside; Yun’s sacrifice is expanded on more in the manga; her death unseals the True Water Rune, makes much more sense than when I was playing the game.
Harmonia’s want of the True Fire rune still confuses me; I can’t decide whether it is political or for Rune-reasons.
I just end up liking Geddoe more and more ♥
There’s more, but sleep now, and I may even write more once I get back into replaying Suikoden 4 ^0^
