Sasuke part 2 (or should that be 4?)

For those who are interested, (and because lj won’t let me post this many words in one comment): Reply to [livejournal.com profile] i_smile’s reply/Sasuke babble on my Sasuke blah.

Ok, first off, to stop this from getting way too long (or off topic):p Time to list a few things we do agree and disagree on (in a semi-coherent manner. You know this can almost turn into a thesis with some polishing) and not repeat ourselves too often. In addition, will leave the Gaara, Neji, and other children discussion for a later date I suspect that’s another 4,000 + words waiting to happen.

  1. Sasuke can’t move on
    1. Both of us agree that Sasuke is stuck in his life because his need to kill Itachi overwhelms everything else.
    2. Point I disagree with: I do think Sasuke have absorbed what happened in his past. But only very recently. Like after he put his hand through Naruto’s chest (I really like typing that :D). It is the point when he let Naruto live, and basically came to a small epiphany; he don’t have to walk the path that Itachi set for him, in the sense that he can achieve strength not just through the Shanrigan (kill your best friend.). But he still chose vengeance. However, this is still significant because:

                                                               i.      I truly believe that it was the first time Sasuke had consciously/seriously/no delusions thought about killing Itachi, and came to the conclusion that he will /sacrifice/ almost everything in his life to achieve the goal. But he will not kill his brother (from a complete none-yaoi mind-set, Naruto is Sasuke’s brother here, and it is interesting how this will play out. As [livejournal.com profile] pellaz pointed out, Naruto can now relate to Sasuke a bit more. Having the closest thing to a best friend (brother?) come after you with the intention to kill has got to make some sort of impact.)

ii.      To continue from i: So, a starting point for Sasuke to mourn, to process, to take it all in. I keep on thinking that Sasuke is not so much as angry as terribly tired at that point. It felt as if for the first time everything he didn’t want to think about came together perfectly. And that has to hurt. But yes, it is a start.

  1. Sasuke being emotionally retarded
    1. Self – Pity: You think his manner to be broody, self-pitying, etc. I’ll have to argue that he’s not (as if I was going to argue differently :p). My question is uh, when was he broody and self-pitying? Not kidding, I honestly don’t remember. I recall him being angry, sneering, and more often than not a jerk, but very rarely broody. It was only after the whole meeting with Itachi that I’d have to say the brood became apparent. Can’t say anything about the anime; watched it up to a certain point than stopped (like during the Chuunin exam).
    2. Fucked up in the head: That’s my interpretation of Sasuke once the whole Itachi thing came into play.
  2. Vengeance
    1. Personal opinion; pointless to get revenge. I can see that, I really can, but my personal opinion is a bit more screwed up. I don’t think it is ever right to weigh one person’s life against another person’s, but at the same time I honestly do believe the victim need vengeance. It isn’t going to make you feel better it probably will leave you hollow but it will allow you to move on. To close one chapter of your life and try to get on the business of living. At the same time I’m in complete agreement with what you said about the person you are taking vengeance on need to understand and to know why you’re going to kill him. But even so, even so, wouldn’t that mean that person deserves your vengeance more than anything. Don’t worry, you’re not the only who can’t seem to get a grip on what she’s trying to say. See following point for more confused thoughts.
    2. Not going to make Sasuke feel better. Both of us agree on this one. No matter what happens Sasuke is going to be killing family. There is no way of getting out of it, there’s no way to make it better.
    3. Itachi not giving Sasuke the satisfaction of not telling Sasuke why.

                                                               i.      Not sure about this one. K-sensei is a bit too good at marketing and understanding the Art of melodrama to just let it go. I do think that if Itachi do have a reason for what he did, it is going to hurt, and Naruto is going to be the one who’s going to be picking up the pieces of Sasuke.

ii.      If no reason is given. Sasuke kills his brother, and there is no satisfaction in that. But it is something that needed to be done. Itachi had to pay.

    1. Death of Itachi: I do believe that his death will either allow Sasuke to move on, or die. At this point in Sasuke’s life, everything he’s doing is directly aimed at killing Itachi. It is the be all and end all. When that is accomplished I think then, and only then can Sasuke even consider moving on with his life.

                                                               i.      Disagreement on the whole ‘moving on’: I believe Sasuke can make more goals. Sure, he’ll brood, he’ll angst, but by that point there will be Naruto kicking his arse to get a move on. Find a wife, have more Uchiha babies, or else I’ll kick your arse.

  1. Vengeance being his Life
    1. I honestly don’t think it is possible. I think there are only two possibilities for Sasuke to be happy.

                                                               i.      Kill Itachi. See #3.

ii.      Being forced into a position of saving Naruto or killing Itachi. One or the other, and if only he chooses to save Naruto will Sasuke even allow the possibility of letting go the whole vengeance deal. Highly unlikely.

  1. Growth of Sasuke. No argument from me. He needs to grow (emotionally and power level wise) before he can kill Itachi, or deal with the after effects. Hell, he need to process everything before he can do anything. But you know, letting Naruto live was a good sign… though going to find Orochimaru was a stupid move. It is still something I can’t wrap my head around. “I’ll find my own way,” so why the hell is he going to Orochimaru?!
  2. Your crack ending. If this happens I’m going to scream. (And HOW COULD YOU?! It is NARUTOxSASUKE all the way!)

This is fun. [livejournal.com profile] i_smile, I think we’ve wracked up over 4000 words between us on this topic.

I know exactly what you mean. As I was typing the thing up I kept on thinking, if only I had could have done this for my english and psych essays. Woe me indeed. *huggles* But look on the bright side, no exams for you ^_^V And yes assignment definitely takes precedence over fangirling or ranting.
